I was about to bring that up. Honestly that's way worse then the Castlevania one.

Lmao, is that a video game or a magazine cover!?
yeah... that batman cover looks more like a magazine cover rather than a video game cover. between the batman and castlevania, they make the older greatest hits/ players choice titles for other systems look good in comparison to those two terrible covers.
Nothing like using a picture of the game package as your cover for your game package.
You mean like this?

I wanna know who's hand that is.
One other thing to note about the PS1 greatest hits versions is that they also change the disc labels for some games???

Can you say shitty?
One other reason why I like Black Label versions.
Yeah, most of the time for the PS1 they were changed but I think there were exceptions. Again, for some systems I don't mind but for others I care.
I'm not particularly picky with whether a game is a Greatest Hits or original release. I'm not likely to spend more $ to get an original over GH.
All else being equal, I would probably choose the original release, though. Especially if the GH release looks like Arkham City or that DS Castlevania game, lol.

I don't like Greatest Hits style packaging at all. I avoid it whenever possible. But there's a few instances where it has more content, like Fable: The Lost Chapters, or there's no "standard" version of the game, like New Play Control Pikmin 2. In those cases, I will begrudgingly get the game.
Yeah the packaging doesn't really work if the boxes usually have all the same style colors, and you like to alphebetise your games. Like for PS1 for the most part... PS2 is a little more bearable for some reason and I don't think Genesis would be a problem since there are so many color variations already.
I do think the ps1 greatest hits could have been designed better, for example keep the black border on the instructions and side of the case but put the greatest hits logo where the black squares pattern is on the jewel case insert on the front. I thought Nintendo had it right with the gb, snes and n64 games. for example this doesn't look too bad:
