The original Team Fortress was a Half-Life mod, but the 2nd one isn't. Yes it runs on the source engine, but it plays completely differently and has become a stand alone game of it's own.

Goldeneye was popular, but I think most folks agreed that Perfect Dark was better overall. Missing Duke Nukem 3D shows the list is bogus. Probably put together by some 18 year-old who spends most of their time playing Call of Duty and TF2.
They should have titled this "Top Ten Multiplayer FPS games of all time". Every game on that list had popular multiplayer scenes.
I'm rather upset by the lack of Jedi Knight, Serious Sam, TimeSplitters, Duke Nukem 3D or anything fun.
No Duke 3D or Blood? Halo 3 over Halo 1? Goldeneye over Perfect Dark? Doom that low? No Wolfenstein?
Pathetic.
Putting Golden eye no.1 and DooM no.9 , this gotta be a joke,,
At least original UT is on the list, one of my all-time favorite pc game.
No Blood, and Duke Nukem 3D?
This list sucks..
Doom or Wolf 3D should be in the #1 and #2 not COD 4
Thanks for listing all the games in the OP.
Now it's kinda pointless to go and watch the vid.
I think they should have put in UT2K4 over the original, that's still my favorite multiplayer FPS to be honest.
Its good to see Goldeneye at no1. But i would trade Halo for Duke Nukem 3D or Turok 1. I would also put Doom and Half Life 2 in top 3 after Goldeneye. Perfect Dark was great but it didn't make as much impact as Goldeneye and it had terrible frame rate issues on the N64. The XBLA version is how the game should be played.
No Duke 3D, ROTT or Shadow Warrior? FAIL!!! Actcually, Duke 3D SHOULD HAVE been on there. Wolf 3D also. Goldeneye is like Halo; both are popular games on consoles that people hold in very high esteem because they don't know any better. They should be on that list ONLY because they helped to popularize the genre on consoles, but should not be near the top of that list at all. Goldeneye does get points for doing multiplayer on one TV.
I don't get all the hate against Goldeneye. I mean, it was a very innovative game back then and if you remember, it made the phrase "Doom Clone" stop as more and more shooters were copying stuff that Goldeneye made popular instead. Sniper Rifle anyone?
And another thing, in the video they said that Goldeneye didn't have dual analog controls but the fact is that it actually DID have them. You had to use 2 controllers for that (dual analog controllers didn't even exist when this game was in development) but this shows how ahead of its time this game was. And if you set it right you can play it on an emulator using a 360 controller and have dual analog controls just like modern shooters ;)
I find Goldeneye to be pretty meh and dated, sure it's 'innovative' but time hasn't shined on it well, and personally, I think Quake and Unreal that if I remember correctly came out around the same time on PC are far more playable.
I guess it's unfair to compare PC and console FPS games but.. oh well.
