unfortunately I don't have any sports games. it's alright, you can take splatterhouse off hold since I'm playing desert strike at the moment anyway.
Madden '94.

I'll take Madden '92.
Randomstringofobscenities.... Does anyone have any advice on beating Ra in Stargate? I wouldn't call the rest of the game cake by any means, but nothing in it comes anywhere close to his random BS. I keep looking for a relatively safe spot (as I've found in every fight against the similarly annoying Anubis), but it's just not happening between the homing shots and the 8-directional lasers he fires. I may have to table this one for awhile and move on to something less stressful....
I've got Ex Mutants wired.
And to think a month ago I wondered if I was even up to the task. A month ago when I got to the first mine-cart level and just kept dying repeatedly and repeatedly I thought the game might be a miserable experience.
Each try yielded a few more "inches" of screenscroll, and though defeated I always turned it off with a feeling of progress.
Most of the bosses utterly confounded me at first encounter. Now I can breeze through or even wantonly charge most of them.
The manner in which life-gauge extend capsules are distributed through the levels encourages a 1 credit clear. And really by the time I reached the last level, I'd had all the earlier enemies memorized.
A couple back to back plays tonight and I finally 1cc'd it myself.
There are no worthwhile videos of Ex Mutants gameplay online afaik, so I did a primitive recording with my camera and will try to upload that tomorrow.
Figures that when I recorded I played extra sloppy. Besides a few areas where it's easy to get knocked by an enemy into an instant death, it shouldn't be too hard to a do a one life clear.
edit: images added, and my "longplay" video is really bad, will have to try recording that again.

For next games, I should do Pat Riley Basketball, since that's the only sports game I own which hasn't been done yet.
And I'm also hoping to reserve Gaiares, seems fitting since it's my namesake. I also know that's going to be one hell of a challenge.
I finished Joe Montana II Sports Talk Football with a perfect season. Take that, Mercury Morris! And sorry, Cleveland...
Although I beat this on five minute quarters, I never abused the playclock advantage, which would be in violation of the rules set by goldenband on the first page. I always chose plays as fast or faster than the Genesis, which worked out to about one-hundred plays per game, just a little under the NFL average. I never restarted or played any games over with a password, either. I did have a couple of really close games and even won one game in overtime. I won every game with traditional football strategy, no cheap tricks or anything like that. It wouldn't have been fun otherwise.
Speaking of passwords, I sure wish I could find out what kind of information is stored in there. I'm not interested in being able to skip ahead or anything. I'd just like to know if there is any strategic information passed along to the Genesis. Does it tell it to play harder or easier in the next game? Does it tell it what kind of plays I like to use?
Also, note that Joe Montana II features full league play with a sixteen game season based upon the NFL's schedule and alignment. I don't think most football games (including Madden) had this until a couple of years later, with the exception of Cyberball, which was probably the first Genesis football game to have full league play.
I had a lot of fun playing this. I play NFL 94 starring Joe Montana all the time (it's my favorite game) and this game is the basis for it. It's a lot simpler than NFL 94 and has a number of flaws but it's not a bad football game, either alone or with a friend. There's just no reason to play it now, though, other than this challenge since NFL 94 is better in every way. I guess my playing it would be like an NFL player going back to play a season of high school football. The playbook is basic in comparison to NFL 94 and the reads are much easier. The main thing that made some games tough is that some teams could really bring the pressure, though that's probably because I choose a weak team. Also, while the player momentum is almost revolutionary, they didn't perfect it until NFL 94.
Sorry if some of my pictures are a little blurry:

Looks like Bimini Run wasn't fast enough to get away.
This game is a bit of an oddity. So much about it is just dull, uninteresting, and of questionable quality, yet the wave idea works decently. Some missions are stupidly quick, others are drawn out WAY too long, the graphics aren't very good, the music is subpar, some of the hit detection is spotty, and you get rather sick of hearing "Kenji, come in!" every time someone farts in that guy's general direction. A horrible game? Not really. But a good game? Uh uh, not a chance.
So been visiting this site for years, have never got involved in this great community, this is right up my alley though!
First submission is WWF Royal Rumble, One on One Tournament, Difficulty of 5!

Razor Ramon is the New World's Champion
No idea if this game is well regarded or not, but always enjoyed playing against my brother when we first got a Megadrive (Aussie here!) in 1996!
Edit: And I'll start at the top of the list and claim 3 Ninjas Kick Back, which having never played before and just loading up am surprised to find is a psygnosis game!
Welcome aboard to the master of the underworld, and a fine way to start! The pictures and detailed post are much appreciated.
(If possible, it'd be good to also include a little slip of paper in the shot with your username on it, but that's not strictly required.)
The Sega-16 review gives it 7/10, FWIW. I've only played Raw and Arcade, and those in their 32X versions to boot.
I got a little ways into the Genesis or SCD version (don't remember which), and was surprised by how punishingly difficult it seemed. Best of luck with it.
I'd like to call RoboCop 3...since I just cleared it.
Attachment 6186Attachment 6187Attachment 6188
I actually cleared this on all 3 difficulties; no differences in endings, though I was able to single-credit it on Hard. The game is a breeze once you know what you're doing, but it can be a major pain if you're starting out on Normal and aren't accustomed to the game's occasional cheap tricks. The biggest issue I had with the game was collisions: You're RoboCop, for crying out loud! A tiny mech flying through you/into you should not sap 90% of your life (the game does not have any grace periods on hits). Also, *rats* damage you?! WTF?!.... Aside from these minor quibbles, I really enjoyed this game. Aside from the cheap hits from colliding with mechs, you do feel like RC in that you're a friggin' bullet sponge. The weapon power-up system is great, and I like how you can choose which gun to restock with ammo when you find it. The overhead shooting segments are a blast. The music is very repetitious, but it's all very good, so no complaints.
More Acclaim stuff next I'm sure. (I haven't given up on Stargate yet, but I've gotten my butt handed to me enough times by Ra that I feel the need to set it aside for a little bit)
Edit: Okay, after an unpleasant experience with an unnamed Acclaim game that I'll likely never touch again due to jittery control combined with a god-awful frame rate, I'd like to call a game from them that I know is actually great: Super Smash T.V.

And so, the Arcus Odyssey comes to an end.
I've always liked this game. Multiple characters to play as, multiple helpers to chose from, a lengthy quest without being too drawn out, one hell of an opening cinema (for a cart), a lengthy ending, and an ending theme that I liked so much, I made a remix of it. The only real downside, is that one of the toms for the drums doesn't play. You just get a quick burst of static for it instead. Always wondered how they missed that glitch.
With those out of the way, I'd like to claim Toughman Contest, F-15 Strike Eagle II, and Galahad.
Been having a hell of a time with Super Monaco II. All the years of Gran Turismo and the various F1 games have screwed me up. I can start races good, but I'm not consistent. It also doesn't help that I'm playing more F1 2012 with my steering wheel setup than this game I signed up to beat. I'll conquer this bastard though!
I've been playing Sonic Spinball just for fun. I know it belongs to VGTM, but I just wanted to let him know that the game is very doable. I've always enjoyed it, as it has some very satisfying boss fights. I've been reaching the fourth (last) level until now, but have been playing it very casually. I've beaten it many times before, so don't fret brother. It can be done.
Logged about two hours into 3 Ninjas Kick back, tough game. Made it to the second part of the second level, a large cave which had me stuck. Changed the game to easy to see if it made much of a difference, the only difference I can notice is that the game now gives passwords when completing a level (unless I just overlooked it on medium). Still stuck in these caves! This game is not very forgiving in regards to things like temporary invincibility when hit and visual feedback to the player. Will try some more later tonight.
