More about M&M II, Mr Wizard was rescue (two casualties in that hard fight) Now the party is very close to level 50, i need to determine the 8th member. The game is full of glitches, but for the better :) Now i need to find better equipment, and start doing all major quests i can.
I found something strange (ha! Another glitch! :D, while my game is PAL and the box said Mega Drive, the manual points to Genesis instead to Mega Drive (the big manual, with all the info about the maps and all)

Burning Force is done!

I fucked up with the camera and missed the END message prior to the screens above...
The game was played on hard, and I barely made over 1 million points. Got extra lives in all of the bonus areas, which helped me get through some of the nastiest parts, such as boss 4-1 and the final boss.
I think Burning Force is fun, even if it loses a lot when compared to the arcade game. I love the soundtrack, especially the theme for day 5.

Shiver me timbers! I be claimin' The Pirates of Dark Water from ye scurvy dogs! (since I happen to have an open slot, and since I happen to have picked it up over the weekend) First impressions: After playing through the first 4 stages, this game seems vastly underrated. I really admire how it actually rewards you for exploration rather than punishing you severely (I'm looking at you, Cutthroat Island). I love games like this where the goal is pretty clear, but you end up taking all these little side trips just to see what might be hidden here or there. Fun stuff.

I'm going to take a decent one, and a shitty pair... namely, After Burner II, Awesome Possum, and Air Diver. And I'm withdrawing my claim to M1 Abrams for the time being. I need a break from that thing after trying to beat it in one sitting before that whole "single use save state" thing was brought up, and if someone else beats it in the meantime, so be it.

ahn... may I claim Vapor Trail and Forgotten Worlds?

Pac-Attack is beaten. This is a screenshot right after beating the last puzzle, #100, in Puzzle mode:

And the main page of the ending:

As you can see, I played this on a Nomad -- it's a good game for multitasking.
Then, just for good measure, I took the high score in Normal mode, which is an essentially automatic accomplishment if you start the game on Hyper (though I didn't know that beforehand):

I'm going to drop my Toki claim for the moment, as I don't have the patience to deal with that game's diabolical final boss fights. Instead I'll pick up Bubba 'n' Stix and Operation Europe, a Koei strategy/war game I'm picking in part because unlike most Koei games, it doesn't have difficulty settings.
Also, I made it to the final cycle of Wimbledon without dropping a set, but haven't yet been able to beat the first opponent in the final tournament, though I've come very close (up a set and 4-1). Unfortunately the game really falls apart at this stage, as the computer is just ridiculously cheap and is capable of pulling off impossible shots routinely, so the only way to win is to break the AI.

I swear to God in that first screen shot for PAC Man 2 all I could read was Cum Monster. Took me maybe 30 seconds to realize it was Gum monster.

I've really fallen behind on this. I haven't even gotten around to play super high impact yet. I will soon though!

Played King Salmon today, but struggled mightily. I seem to be getting plenty of strikes, but I have no idea how to consistently hook-up with fish. You're supposed to quickly push up on the D-pad when you see the rod dip down, but I'm only managing to hook-up with, at best, 1-in-20 fish in these situations, and when I do hook-up with and catch a fish (a whopping three today), they're never Kings. All I can catch are Silvers or Pinks.

I started on Operation Europe and LaRussa Baseball '95 over the weekend, and discovered that both games failed to keep my savegame. In the case of Operation Europe, the battery was actually fine -- it was the solder joints on the holder that had failed, and resoldering/adding solder fixed the problem. I'd only played for 45 minutes, so I didn't lose much.
But the LaRussa '95 battery is 100% dead (tested with multimeter), and I'll need to get a replacement battery and a solder sucker to fix it. This is the only Genesis game I've had with a dead battery, and I've read that some copies of NHL '95 had a defective battery, so given the shared year, maybe this is the same issue. Fortunately I'd only played 1-2 innings of one game before power cycling to check the battery (and discovering that it was dead).
I also tried a game of RBI Baseball 3, but after losing it by a score of 27-0 (!), I'm wondering whether it's for me. :p

How is this done? And do you have a source for replacement batteries?
EDIT: N/M on the battery test. I realize now that you tested the battery after taking it out of the game. I was thinking you had a way to test the battery by reading the pins somehow.

The battery in my copy of College Football 97 is dead, and there seems to be no playoff mode (only season). So I have to replace it. If I can ever win a game. Yesterday I did my first score, a touchdown :P.

^Actually, your first impression was correct -- I haven't taken the LaRussa '95 battery out because I don't have a solder sucker (and my braid wasn't working for me). But you can test them without removing from the game, or at least that's what I successfully did with Operation Europe. Both games have CR2032 batteries with built-in tabs, and the one on Operation Europe looked like it might've been aftermarket (which would explain the bad soldering). I just touched my multimeter to the prongs on the far side of the PCB, and Operation Europe gave a strong 3V whereas I got nil from LaRussa '95.
As for a replacement source, I came upon this when I was searching for info, but I don't know anything about the site or its credibility. One could also solder in a battery holder, and then use off-the-shelf CR2032s which are available in drugstores, etc.
Meanwhile, I beat Mickey's Ultimate Challenge:

I actually completed it on all three difficulties: Cake, then Medium, then Challenging. Total shovelware, though the graphics are decent (but the music is about as lazy as it gets). I'd never played it before, but it was trivially easy except for the Goofy Master Mind game (which requires a bit of focus on higher levels) and the Huey/Dewey/Louie memory game (which gets thoroughly tedious on Challenging).
