Actually, I quite like this underrated little hybrid (somewhere between a shmup and a run-'n'-gun). It was fun to revisit it about three-and-a-half years after I first beat it.

Glad I gave a go at last battle again and not mickeymania which has been taken and beaten, problaby was in red I guess.
Last battle is just a frustating game at times (most), things are looking great then some boss battle gone wrong and there goes all your effort, I even lost twice at the first level end boss!
Goldenband, its the second time already that games I "take" are made avaiable, while I agree that people that have not posted anything or beaten any game should have their claimed games avaiable this was not the case with me...

Regarding Mickey Mania, keep in mind that claims are meant as a way of letting us know "Hey, I'm working on this right now" so that we work efficiently, not as a way of reserving games for the future. I try to accommodate people who are working on longer RPGs and Koei-type games, but we can't "hold" a game for months at a time (especially not a popular platformer) unless that person's posting progress updates.
It looks like you claimed Mickey Mania on February 3rd, but then we didn't get any updates and you hadn't posted here at all since March...so it went back in the pool a while ago, when I marked all pre-April claims from everyone in red (and nuked a bunch of other ones from posters who hadn't beaten any games). CFFJR beat it on August 3rd, exactly six months after your claim.
I'm more than happy to renew your Last Battle claim, though! :D I'll put that back in green. Glad to hear that you're working on that brutal mistress of a game, and glad to have you back.
I'm going to beat Ghostbusters and Atomic Runner. I will quite literally have Ghostbusters done by tonight and have a photo posted. Atomic Runner I'll try as hard as I can to beat (preferably on hard but probably on normal).

So this was I think the third time I posted about Last Battle, the problem is that I donŽt have much time to play and last battle takes you all the way back at the begining if you loose (arrrrrrrrrgh). This time around I just lost my patience and decided to play another game which ended up being Olympic gold, I was so mad that I broke the 100 mts dash world record right away (9.51s) :)

Sorry, couldn't help but notice that "Strider" was still in the list and highlighted in red for oldskool. It's a game that can be breezed through in a half-hour tops, so like the alpha male Sega-16'er I am, I swooped in and beat it.

Refrain from using the Vbulletin attachment system with posts, it's a piece of junk. Use an image sharing site like Imgur in all cases, don't bother with the Attachment feature at all here on Sega-16.

I saw that "Comix Zone" was being slept on, so I swept in like a scavenger and beat it. Another half-hour quitter. Always a pleasure playing through STI's magnum opus (which was released 18 years ago this month). They must've developed this game over a long period of time given how the Joe Pencil pitch video was made earlier in 1992. It had, and still has a unique gameplay premise. The game often brings the Genesis hardware, with lots of slowdown, flicker and random garbage popping up during hectic action.

BTW five more exhibition matches under my belt in David Crane's Amazing Tennis, beating Nick 6-3 6-1, Aaron (my old nemesis) 6-2 5-7 6-4, Kanyanta 6-2 6-2, Arthur 6-4 7-5, and Angie, 6-3 6-4. Angie is the game's token female, but she has the same mullet and manly build as everyone else in the game,
The only opponents I haven't beaten in exhibition matches yet are Richard (whom I beat in a tight match in Tournament mode) and top-ranked Sten (who painfully beat me in a third-set tiebreak in the semifinals of Tournament mode). Once I've beaten them in Exhibition mode, then I'll make another attempt at Tournament, and hopefully meet with more success than last time.
I'm a little late for the party, but would like to get back in the Assault Suit and take on Target Earth.

I almost got a used copy of this game back in the late '90's, but the Golden Axe-esque cover art kept me from springing for it. (I had a low opinion of GA1 back then, and thought that this game was a spin-off of it). I finally got to play it a bit via emulation a couple of years later, but didn't sit down to play it through up until now. Wonderfully solid game with good graphics, great soundtrack, fun gameplay and great level design that rewards exploration. Strange that the Gainax (the anime studio) actually dabbled in video games at one point, but the anime-influenced storyline and artwork are appreciated.

Actually, I kind of enjoyed it. It's basically a rehash of B.O.B., which is among my favorite action-platformers on the Genesis (though the SNES version is better). The level and character design are a few notches below that game, but the mindset behind the stage design and enemy placement is very similar, and I was able to "tune in" pretty quickly though I still found myself getting lost now and then.
Not sure if it offers infinite continues, but I used one midway through. Either way, it's fairly easy once you get on the game's wavelength.

^Whoa, if that's correct, it's a serious problem in Fusion. I've used other emulators that handle battery files with no problem, e.g. Nestopia and iNES.
EDIT: I just started a game of Light Crusader, saved in-game, quit Fusion, restarted Fusion, reloaded the game, and my battery save file was there. So maybe it's just a problem with NBA Hang Time, or with certain savegame hardware configurations?
I've never had a problem with Fusion and battery saves...
I tried out Light Crusader, and it too wouldn't save the SRM file. I even made a specific folder for them, and that did nothing. So, I checked the folder properties, undid the "Read Only," and tried again. No dice, and as has happened many times in the past, the folder was still "Read Only." Since the EMU offers save states, I never bothered looking into why this never worked. But, this time I checked online. Here's what fixed the issue for me...
- Select "Start," "Run," and type "regedit" in the Run dialogue box
- Make your way to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer subkey
- Select "Edit," "New," "DWORD Value"
- Give that new file the name "UseSystemForSystemFolders"
- Double click that file, and set its "Value Data" to 1.
- Close the registry menu and restart your PC.
Now you can change the "Read Only" value, and Fusion should be able to access it to save your SRM files. Hopefully, this will work for you, because it did for me. It'll still have the "Read Only" box checked, but now the SRM files will be created when you close the EMU (like they should be). Oh, and just to be safe, put the Fusion folder right in C:\ so that it's not in any other folders (My Documents, My Games, etc.), and only Fusion's folder will be affected by your change.

David Crane's Amazing Tennis is beaten. My match scores were:
1R: Ingmar 6-1 6-1
QF: Sten 2-6 6-3 6-2
SF: Angie 4-6 6-4 6-2

Don't be fooled by the final set scores, pretty much every game in the last three matches was an absolute dogfight -- and in fact, those are the game's three best players (Sten's #1, Angie's #3, and Richard's #2). It took about 2 1/2 hours, of which my victory over lowly Ingmar only accounted for about 12 minutes.
This was my third attempt on Tournament mode, and my second try today. On today's first attempt I beat Jacques 6-0 6-0 in the opener but lost to Angie 6-4 3-6 4-6 in the quarters, gave up in disgust, and returned an hour later. I nearly quit after I lost the first set against Sten, but I'm glad I stuck it out.
This was easily the toughest tennis game I've played on the Genesis, and one of the toughest tennis games I've played on any system (Championship Tennis for Intellivision is harder, a few poor-quality titles are as well). StarMist's review didn't go over too well when it was posted, but personally I think it's spot-on, though you really have to play the game to appreciate how accurately he covered the finer details. Certainly it was helpful for me in trying to beat it.
Unlike most tennis games on the Genesis (and elsewhere) it's pretty tough to get the AI in DCAT to fall into predictable patterns, or to take advantage of any holes. About the only AI hole I found was that you can sometimes get the computer to whiff on a sharply-angled crosscourt lob that lands midcourt, especially when you hit it from the back of the court on the deuce (right) side. The computer is more solid than you off the ground, especially since it's very difficult to gauge your strokes when you're playing in the far court.
As a result, the game is intensely stressful because you really can't fall into a rhythm, but have to constantly evolve with the point. When I played in the near court, I could reliably hold with a kick serve out wide followed by a crosscourt volley, but I had a hell of a time holding when serving from the far court. When I served-and-volleyed, I couldn't keep my volleys in the court; when I tried to play from the baseline, I kept dumping the ball into the net whenever I tried to hit a winner. I lost a lot of service games at love from the far court, and actually found it easier to break serve than to hold.
Despite this handicap, somehow I managed to get past Sten, mostly by throwing up a lot of lobs and trying to elicit errors. When I was in the near court I played more aggressively, and eventually managed to find my range. But against Angie I was really struggling, and only just managed to pull out the second set.
Somewhere in that match, though, I finally figured out a reliable hold pattern for the far court: serve way out wide, then hit a hard shot crosscourt. Sounds obvious, and it's a standard "can-opener" tactic used by Lendl, Roddick, and many others (especially left-handed players). But since the far-court scaling is hard to parse, I'd been dumping lots of balls into the net when I tried to do it. The trick was to not move at all, or very little, from the service position. From there, the computer would generally hit the ball right back to me before rushing the net, and my crosscourt passing shot would go in (and if the computer got a racket on it, it would usually go wide).
With that in hand I was able to start playing more aggressively on the return games, and my play lost that desperate, scrambling quality you get when you know you don't have the technical foundations of a game down and are just trying to button-mash your way through (anyone who's ever been pretty-good-but-not-great at a fighting game knows exactly what I mean). I won the third set against Angie comfortably, and then managed to get a clean victory over Richard despite dropping serve from the near court for the first time in ages.
Phew! I think I might write about this one for the Reader Roundtable. It's definitely the most realistic tennis game for the Genesis by far, and though it has loads of technical and presentation flaws it's still got an integrity to the gameplay that's lacking in most other titles, including the one I reviewed that was posted on the site today. :) (Though at least ATP tries, which is more than I can say for Wimbledon, Andre Agassi, IMG, et al.)

It was honestly one of the most draining victories I've had all year. Only in the last 10 minutes did I start to feel sure that I had it in the bag. I was paranoid that something would happen to mess it up, e.g. a power failure -- and bizarrely enough, later that evening we had a series of weird, brief power failures in another room of my house. Still not sure what that's about, actually...
