IT"S ALREADY STEREO!!!
The stereo sound should be universal for all SCART connectors. I have no idea how to mod yours, David J, but I imagine it'd just be as simple as opening up the thing and soldering a stereo cable to the connecting points. That's what I did to mine. Works phuggin' great. I really had no choice since I also use my transcoder for the SNES and Saturn, neither of which allow any other method to get the sound out.
I can take a picture of mine if you want so you'd know which points to solder and which is left and which is right. (Protip: after soldering the left cable, the other one will most likely be the right.)
GZeus, my transcoder doesn't deliver sound. but I do get audio out of my headphone jack via the genesis.
I've seen you post pics Joe, so I know where to solder, but what I really need to know is, how did you remove the guts of the transcoder from the case?
Again I don't know how yours is assembled. For mine I used a #2 Phillips screwdriver.
I'd like to see that picture. I had no trouble locating the appropriate pins and traces on my genny that will give me stereo or composite video (or anything i need really), but I was unable to perform the mod because the contacts were too small to solder to by hand. Where did you take the signal from? I remember GND is easy, and one of the signals had a prominent cap on the top side, but the others were just too hard to get to without a 90% chance of shorting something...Quote:

Here are the pics again:

David J, the board just slides out on mine.
Well my screws are on the side, except I have two where the blue component plug is. So that's why I'm confused. I'm sure the points would be the same for my device.
The soldering points would absolutely be the same, yes.
As soon as I can get it out of the case, maybe I'll mod it.
