What do you prefer - Genesis or Mega Drive?

I grew up with the PAL one. So biased as I may be towards Mega Drive, I too think the EU Mega Drive logo is the best of the 3 cause of the metallic texture. Name wise "Mega Drive" sounds so 90's.. Bombastic. It Fitted the period well. Genesis was the most meaningful name though. As in the beginning of a new era. I believe the simple lines in the PAL model 1 makes it the best of the 3. Where the US and Jap one is too "In your Face" with the big Genesis logo and 16-Bit tag. They just didn't age as well as the PAL one imho. US model 2 is the best looking model 2 though color wise, if you would just remove the big Genesis logo. :p

Yeah, back in the day I didn't realize sonic was slower than he was supposed to be. He was plenty fast as is! :lol:

What I find interesting is how reflective the logos are of the target market's aesthetic style.

Really, the Genesis and PAL Mega Drive logos are not that different, both are steeped in that 80s aesthetic.

Of those 3 logos, I personally prefer the Genesis version. The Euro version looks tacky, and the Japanese version looks dull.

Tacky? TACKY?! But it's shiny and metallic and futuristic 'n stuff. Did I mention how shiny it is? Shiny... :nod:

It just looks like someone got carried away with the airbrush. I can understand it will appeal to some, but I don't like it myself.

The EU logo all the way! So shiny and metallic and classic. Japanese logo is meh, Genesis logo looks like EU logo on prozac.

Megadrive for sure!
