My Next Console Purchase

Okay guys and gals...

So the main reason why I've owned so many consoles is to specifically get to play games that I missed out on in the past. There are still a couple of consoles that I have yet to own and yet to play on. So I need help in deciding which old school console is next..

Here's what I've owned in the past and the type of games I enjoy.

My absolute favorite games are Non-realist Racing games, Doom, Mortal Kombat, Another World/Out of this World, Pac-man...


So what should my next console be? Here's what I've been contemplating....

Master System - (My friend had one back in the day, and I recall having a good time on it, and I've always wanted to try the 3D glasses out)

Turbografx 16 - (A different friend had this one, he kept if for a week and returned it to get a Genesis)

CDi - Always curious about this console... According to AVGN mostly crap.

Amiga 32 CD - Don't know ANYTHING about this console...


So budget is the main issues, definitely want to get the best bang for my buck.

I voted turbografx 16, but get a PC Engine, not a turbografx 16. It's much cheaper and there are more and better games.

Eh, depending on your tastes it could be a toss up between the Master System and TG16. I think I would have to lean toward the Master System because the games are cheap and many of them are just as good as their TG16 counterparts. Still, tough call between these two.

Being in the same boat as yourself, if I were to choose a system from the list it would have to be the TurboGrafx-16. Alot of the games are quite impressive and the more I read about the console and what it is capable of, the more likely I am likely to add this system to my collection. Hopefully, you'll be able to find out for a decent price.

The CDs are region free, the HuCards/Turbo Chips will require an adapter, or a cart port mod, to reverse the pins to play the opposite region. HuCards are cheaper than Turbo Chips and many are in english, the action games anyway.

I'd get a PCE if I were to get any of those. A DUO-R would be the best option.

I'll go with TG16 as well.

I'm going with the Master System. Lots of good games on it, easy to get hold of them for cheap, great imports, easy to get imports running on it.

Get the Sega Master System. You owe it to yourself to experience and own Phantasy Star, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap, Golden Axe Warrior, Ninja Gaiden (import), and Kensieden, Spellcaster, Golvellius Valley of Doom, Power Strike 1 & 2, and even Rambo.

To enjoy the TG16 to the fullest, you'll need the CD attachment or a Turbo Duo. It will be more expensive if you want all the quality titles. Dracula X alone will run you over $200 on ebay. So my advice would be SMS first, TG-16 second and forget about the rest.

Voted TurboGrafx-16. Plenty of good platformers & SHMUPS. go for a Duo-R, though if you can find a black Duo cheap and your good at soldering its an option to keep in mind.

I vote Neo Geo (alternate suggestion).

If not, then go for SMS. Why? Because I could sell you one. :p
