What would you think of a Streets of Rage 4?
If it had been made years ago, it could have been good I guess, but if it was made today, well... ...not so much. It would be nice to have some more beat-em-ups though, as there are hardly any of those these days.
I'd have to agree with Metalwario64. It would have been nice if SEGA had produced one more game in the series on the Genesis/Megadrive, 32X, SATURN or Dreamcast but that ship has long set sale. Today, I would prefer a new beat em up series that brings something new to the genre. For example, "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game" was a great a great downloadable title.
It should have been made on the Saturn.
It was begun on the DC, but never saw the light of day. This was one of Melf's first articles that I read years ago on S-16:

Actually, it was for Saturn @ 15:00 :

I thought Sega would have jumped at the opportunity to bring back SoR when Castle Crashers and Scott Pilgrim became successful Xbox Live beat em' ups (that didn't cost an arm and a leg to produce). It seems like a missed opportunity if you ask me. Digital Downloads seems like the perfect opportunity to revive a ton of their popular 16-bit IP.
It would be difficult to improve upon the Streets of Rage: Remake.
Blech, Fighting Force as Streets of Rage 4 would have been a disaster. That game blows.
Yeah, I downloaded Fighting Force when I seen the SOR4 demo stuff... it's bad, if it actually became SOR4, it probably would of ended up as a curiosity instead of an actual good game.
Its too late. Release it as a downloadable title on X Box Live and it would generate a little bit of buzz but thats about it.
Disagree with most of this. Look at something like Double Dragon Neon and how generally well-received that was. A good beat-'em-up is still very welcome - I'd like to think a new Streets of Rage game would get a few heads turning...hell, just give it to WayForward and see what they come up with.
I think the best we can hope for is what we got recently in Anarchy Reigns. I agree though that a 2D sequel would be awesome and would definitely get solid press if it was done right, it just wouldn't be a million seller or anything.
Was Double Dragon the first beat em up ? Is Neo only downloadable on PS3 ?
Yeah Sega should release it as a Rom for Genesis or DC as well as networks for the big 3 and mobile.Quote:
