Apparently, without prompting, the entire convention at PAX burst into a sing-a-long when the trailer started, which surprised the capcom and disney executives on hand. They didn't know people still remembered duck tales
Well this was completely unexpected.
Embed that trailer, dude! This NEEDS to be shared!
Oh god...The song....my head.
Of course we remember! It was a part of our generations childhood! Once that song is in your head it never goes away.
There's an article here: http://www.polygon.com/2013/3/22/413...-pax-east-2013
virt's doing the music, so this is probably going to be another worthwhile game soundtrack to download.
oh man, I was so young and loved duck tales and that song! It almost hasn't skipped my mind in like 15-20 years till just now when I saw that video
Thats quite a surprise. Amazing that a long dead franchise/liscense would get a new game made.
The rumored re-release of the two D&D Capcom brawlers was also announced if I'm not mistaken (could probably have its own thread). Excited for that as well :)
That's so cool! I had the craziest run of emotions when that song started! So strange!! Excited for this game!
As someone who watched the series through its early years on ABC (1987-1989) & its final years on Disney Afternoon(1989-1991) AND as someone who was lucky enough to be among the first young kids to play the NES game which was being test marketed at KayBee locally in San Francisco way back in the Summer of 1988,(DuckTales for the NES was released in the US on September 27,1988.)
I'm having a nostalgasm.
(Pull out his copy of DuckTales for NES.)
If they don't use the same guy who did the music for the first one I don't think it'll be that great.
Wayforward, huh? So you know it will have fantastic animation and a subtle lack of polish through-out.
Wayforward's really inconsistent for quality but this will probably turn out better than Epic Mickey 3DS at least as far as old-school-inspired Disney games go.
I don't have any real attachment to this franchise, though. I think I was a little too old to care about the cartoon back then. The NES games were pretty good but I never considered them top tier platformers.
Yay! This is great news!

Hope it does well so they'll also remake Chip & Dale.
I hope wayforward pull out all their platforming skills for this one, could be a goodie :D
Well this is a shocker (no pun indended). I never did memorize all the lyrics to that song unlike Ninja Turtles. But yeah what exactly prompted Capcom to remake this? Is there a new Disney series in the making right now?
I'm in my lunar capsule... I can finally go to the moon again!
is so awesome that 2d gaming is gettin and getting more popular!
Yeah that's true, I loved the Aliens game but it felt like it wasn't polished at all,
the gameplay was nice, felt like a Metroid game, but the story was.. like it was made up in their lunchbreak,
oh yeah.. eh aliens on the sullaco.. and eh.. oh yeah lets go to the moon, oh eh.. lets encounter that one guy from alien 1,
and eh.. oh eh, back to the sullaco! oh there's robots now, oh.. they aren't a threat, aah the plot thickens and.. its over.
doh.
Looking forward to Ducktales though, the idea of the game already exists since its a remake.
not impressed
"Please stop e-mailing me for a quote" LOL
Will be getting my GB version out later in celebration, will need to get a new copy of the NES version now.
Life is like a hurricane here in Duckburg...
All this did was make me hungry enough to either pull both NES games off my shelves to play them, or both GB versions off the shelf, hook up the SNES, throw in my Super Gameboy and play that way. The new one just doesn't interest me, the old ones will stay with me for life, till death do either of us part.
Backgrounds look horribly uninspired.
Man this looks good, but I said the same thing about Epic Mickey 3DS and was thoroughly disappointed. The word Tutorial in one of those screenshots worries me, why does a simple platformer need a tutorial? I hope they don't make this shit another fetch quest like Power of Illusion.
Apparently they like wasting money? I can't understand why they would make a game about a show that has been off the air for 20 years. Furthermore, Disney doesn't even celebrate its cartoon characters anymore. Their channel has almost nothing but live action sitcoms with fresh-faced teens who sing and dance (I have 2 daughters). Many of today's kids have little to no idea who Donald Duck is let alone Scrooge and the Duck Tales gang. I guess they're targeting 30 somethings, but I don't think that'll be enough for this game to be a hit.
