I will wait for someone to buy one and review it. What intrigues me is the HDMI output. Will this console perform as well as an upscaler in making games look RGB quality on an HDTV? If so it would be a very cheap RGB option for what it does. I am intrigued if anything. I don't have a NES or SNEs so if this was good I would possibly buy it for that alone.
I must say that I don't understand the point of these clones or whatever they are. You either use the real hardware (which is obviously the sweetest option) or emulate the machines on some other hardware (PC for example). Why buy one of these?
So I guess the question is not whether this is an emulator but whether if this will be acceptable at emulating the supported platforms.
Retail shops love these, since the original consoles are not as plentiful, or can be costly to repair. I think one local to me doesn't actually "repair" the consoles like they advertise. They do board swaps really. I don't even think they could do a pin swap on an NES. I remember I took my SMS there for a fix and they said they couldn't do it. I fixed it myself by replacing the voltage regulator. But back to those shops, they can then sell the games which are easier to find than consoles. They sell these clones, multi-slot, etc for whatever they go for... $40-60? Then they sell the actual system (NES, Genesis, SNES) for more than the clone, and then mark up the popular games. For example, they sell Tecmo Super Bowl for $25! SMB3 and Zelda/Link for $30 each!Quote:

Like what Tripredacus said - The reason for "clone" console is because the games are readily available and the original consoles are not. But that's not the case for SMS, GG & 32x games.. At least not at these Retro Games stores... Lots of NES, SNES, Genesis,GB, GBC, GBA...
My local store has 1 32x game, 5 GG & 0 SMS games...

Yeah the retail stores don't seem to carry those types. 32x shows up occassionally but only 1 or 2... and they are always the common games. They never have GG games, and if a SMS game is there its usually Great Football or Golf. The guys at the flea market seem to have all those types of games.Quote:

I don't hear a big difference, other than the drum sounds are softer.
Edit: Listening to the 1st audio sample above. I didn't know what game it was at 1st. And even when the guys says "Street Fighter Alpha 2" I couldn't understand him on either audio sample. But that's not the Hyperkin audio filters problem. Just find it funny... Sound like he says... "SWEE FIYA ALHA WHO!"
Man, the voice samples in SFA2 for the SNES were compressed to hell, weren't they? I grabbed this when it came out 'cause I was a bit late to the 32/64-bit lineup. It was as bad as Samurai Shodown's voices on the SNES as well.

I'm interested in this one because of the option to play GBA on my TV, specially the four MMZ games and Castlevania CotM.
I'll keep an eye on videos that show the screen size and general compatibility.
I like that they knew they HAD to show Castlevania 3.
So is their a release date on this yet? I'm going to be moving soon and I want to put my consoles in storage to use this as a space saver until I have more room.
