I was used to games with mean looking dudes shooting or beating the crap out of bunches of other mean looking dudes. When I was eleven I was taking on big boss Willy's machine gun toting ass with just my fists in Double Dragon. Then, in my teens, I'm supposed to accept a bunch of cuddly bouncing around bullshit as the new norm? It didn't matter what kind of scores the magazines gave them, I wouldn't have bought a cartoon animal game if it killed me (other than sonic). Even Earthworm Jim and Rocket Knight Adventures got the stink eye back then.
What hurts the most, though, is knowing that groups like Sunsoft could have been making a decent Blaster Master game while they churned out Aero the Acrobat sequels. D;
I'll add that Duck Tales and Chip n' Dales RR were cool just because I grew up with the cartoons, and capcom was awesome back then. Also Battletoads, Battletoads kicked ass, but those were the only cartoon animal games I played.
