So who wants to take bets on how long it will take for the SNES cart price to crash?
Nice..i really want to try earthbound. Just like FF7 for PS1, once the PSN release came ..OG game price down :)
Hi Earthbound! You're only... oh, YEARS late! Couldn't show up on the original Wii Virtual Console? For shame.
I bet the Wii gets snubbed. Wii U only. It isn't worth buying a new console for it.
Prices will only go down by a small fraction. Nintendo re-sellers and collectors are batshit crazy.
I can't imagine them releasing it on the regular Wii as they are pushing for reasons why people need to buy a Wii U. I'm excited for the official Virtual Console. I'd love to play Super Mario World & SMB2 on my Gamepad! Can't wait!
I too have wanted to try this game for myself, but hell no I'm not paying $200 for a cart. I hope this slaughters the delusional mindset that the cart is worth it's weight in gold.
it makes me glad i bought my copy off a fellow member years ago for $50. i doubt prices will go down since plenty of the SNES VC games selling for more now than when i bought them within the last couple years
Nice find! I don't expect for titles to drop below VC prices but at least come down to good price than some insane ebay prices. FF7 use to be 80-110 all day on ebay. I just checked an auction and now the black case copy is under 50.00. I personally wouldnt pay 50 but maybe 30.00 if complete.

It will only come down by say $50 that's it..
It depends on the game. Radiant Silvergun crashed pretty significantly after it's XBLA release. Yeah there's still BINs for $150-$200, but they don't sell. The auctions are ending in the $90-$125 range. Guardian Heroes also crashed. It used to be $120 all day long. Now auctions end in the $50-$60 range. Again there's still BINs above $100, but they don't sell.
Really the only game I've not seen crash after a modern release is Chrono Trigger for the SNES. But that one is a bit hard to tell because just about every single one is a BIN or an Auction with a stupidly high starting bid. Chrono Trigger however is still a really good RPG. Earthbound on the other hand not so much. It's a good game, but collectors have put it on a stupidly high pedestal.
How about MUSHA it's on the VC on the Wii tdid the price fall?
People like getting the real thing, on the Wii's VC is just a Emulated ROM
The biggest announcement for the Wii U is a ROM of an 18 year old game. I love it.
Fixed an error, but otherwise thanks for stating the obvious.
While collectors will still want the real thing, the more money conscious retro gamers will go for the digital rerelease. That will take a big hit on the demand and should cause the game prices to lower. It has happened with other games, it will probably happen with Earthbound. As I've said Earthbound isn't that great of a game to warrant it's price.
I can't imagine too much drop as people crazy enough to pay hundreds of dollars extra for a cardboard box and manual are still going to buy the original. The Earthworm Jim version the PS3 apparently sucks so you can't say it will be a direct conversion either. Only time will tell.
