Useful/Useless Characters/Things In Games

Useful

Ness's dad from Earthbound. He gets no screen time at all but he's such a helpful character. While Ness is out saving the world, his dad is dipositing fat sacks of money into his son's account. He'd rather have Ness and his friends stay at the fanciest hotel in town than some crappy Motel 6 or whatever the place is called. "Hi son! I want you to know that I just put $3500 into your account! Don't spend it all in 12 places. You stay save and give your mother my love!" Don't know what Ness's dad does but it must be something pretty good if he can throw that kinda money into his son's account. He's a true hero, man. Best dad in a video game. Ever.

Yamato from Shadow Dancer. He attacks enemies for you on command. Now if only he'd take a bullet or a sword slice for you....

Magnet Beam power-up in Mega Man. Because without it, you're royal screwed in the Dr. Wily stages.

Useless

Edward from Final Fantasy IV. Cecil, even if it was under the orders of a pyscho king, took the lives of innocent people, and had his love kidnapped by his best friend who betrayed him. Yet he can still go into beast mode throughout the whole game. Edward lost his girl but still sucks even after she gives him a pep talk in spirit form. To further compliment Edward's worthlessness, he comes with the coward's command called "Hide". "Guys, I'm gonna cover my own anus and hide while you guys get your's kicked. Thanks a lot, Ed. Screw you.

Useful
The Visiphone in Phantasy Star II. With it, you can save right in front of Dark Force, kill him, save right before Mother Brain, kill her and complete the game! Saves a lot of time and trouble if you die in any of those battles.

Useless
Rune's weapons in Phantasy Star IV. Equip him with two shields instead, and put him in front until Wren's defense passes Rune's (which he will do near the end of the game).

Useful:
Double chaser shot in Gustar Heroes
The XBox statue in Ninja Gaiden

Useless:
Needler from Halo and Halo 2

Useless
- Those blue shield orbs in Gradius. They block nothing.
- Nearly every boss weapon in Mega Man, ever. They might be put to use for 40 seconds of the whole game.
- The torch in Ghosts 'N Goblins/Ghouls 'N Ghosts/Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts.
- The Dark Suit in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. It is rendered completely obsolete later in the game, and during it's "useful" period, it barely makes Dark Aether any less hospital for exploration.

Useful
-Sonic's Speed Shoes
-Force Whirl from KOTOR

Useless
-Sonics Goggles (check Sonic Cult)
-Normal attack in KOTOR after the first 15% of the game ( I still don't think I completely understand this game)

Would be Useful:
-Being able to use either the nunchuck or GC controller in Wii's Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz.

Is currently useless:
-Using the WiiMote to control Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz.

Useful:
Guns in "Captain Commando"

Useless:

Waluigi

Useless: the pistol in Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures. I tried marathoning that with a friend today, and the pistol is entirely too slow, and does as much damage as the whip does.

Useless
Tails in the Sonic 2 special stages.

Oh yes, Tails will mess you up when doing the special stages alone in Sonic 2. :mad: With a buddy, though, he's pretty helpful. ;)

Dragoons are useful in the Final Fantasy series. If Dragoons have ever sucked in a FF game, then I haven't played it yet.

Useful:
- Doom 2's Super Shotgun (Best in any situation outside boss fights)
- Spread shot in any shmup (Contra, Vectorman, Ikaruga, etc.)
- Sketch's pet rat in Comix Zone (dude, he finds you stuff!)

Useless:
- The knife in any Resident Evil game
- Pichu in SSB Melee
- The Sleep ability in the Kirby games (aside from someone saying "aww that's almost adorable")

Useful: Drugs to be used while playing YIJ(not that I use drugs :confused: )

Useless: Playing YIJ with a clear mind.
