New mysterious SEGA trademark logo leaked.
A new mystery trademark logo is surfacing across the internet for something called "Sega Spectrum". The original source is in fact Japanese and the image is believed to have come from Haneda Chou prefecture which is SEGA's global HQ.

So what exactly it entails remains a complete mystery. Someone attempted to tie it with an unrelated rumor that SEGA was partnering up with NeuroSky to build console peripherals, But this was an unsourced claim on a random Canadian blog site and NeuroSky's official website lists no such report nor does it have Sega listed as a partnership. The entry has no date either, so its just someone's random wild guess.
The new teaser or logo list both a trademarked logo and trademark name with the words "Spectrum". Remember, SEGA rarely trademarks a logo and a name together in separate commerce runs. They usually do that with hardware. Interesting enough the logo uses the theme colors of the Samurai To Dragons SEGA girl console mascots. 4 of them. Pacticually the four most well known systems: ,Genesis/Mega Drive,Mega CD/Sega CD,Saturn and Dreamcast.
While some theories abound claim SEGA may copy EA and launch an "Origin-like" service, or its the name of a new Arcade board, both theories make zero sense. SEGA doesn't need to copy EA because from a business standpoint it wouldn't be a worthy investment since EA has not been very successful the past few years and its origin service isn't doing too well, and they are ALREADY using names for new Arcade hardware, The RING themed series are being used for whether new arcade board SEGA is planning on announcing. RingWide 2,RingEdge 3, RingWave e.t.c
While the theory about being mobile related is there, I'd call that a SERIOUS long stretch. People seemed to have forgotten that SEGA has a mobile division who would be in charge of any mobile online service, Sega Networks would handle it, if it were somehow mobile related.
So it leaves it down to 3 possibilities.
A new Arcade digital service? Possibly, but not likely. SEGA already has a Japanese Arcade network call ALL.net which has existed for about 10 years. If they were planning such a thing, it would be immediately announced not teased for an E3 event. Why on earth would SEGA discuss such a thing DURING E3?
An Amusement Park? Maybe, then again that would contradict everyone's crazy theory that "Orbi" is one.
The long awaited Tablet console that SEGA keeps documenting and trademarking? Very Likely.
And one last thing, the word Spectrum. The word implies "some other world", a "Hub". Interesting enough, like "Orbi", Spectrum is Latin.
In Latin spectrum means "image" or "apparition", including the meaning "spectre". Spectral evidence is testimony about what was done by spectres of persons not present physically, or hearsay evidence about what ghosts or apparitions of Satan said. It was used to convict a number of persons of witchcraft at Salem, Massachusetts in the late 17th century. The word "spectrum" [Spektrum] was strictly used to designate a ghostly optical afterimage by Goethe in his Theory of Colors and Schopenhauer in On Vision and Colors
"Apparition" is something nobody can really see. Something that appears in thin air, but doesn't exist until its created.
Whatever "Sega Spectrum" is, not only will this thing continue to spread across the internet, but well before the date of E3, everyone will find out what it is because SEGA will reveal it themselves. Also, until I can find the trademark for it, we cannot be sure what it is.
