I own the real thing for most games I want so I never bought many VC games. Game Gear Shinobi on 3DS is the only one I bought recently since my GG is dead. M2 always does a nice job with the emulation and options.
I was disappointed with the C64 games on Wii. Instead of giving North America the versions it had back in the day, we got PAL ones running too fast. Sometimes I prefer sped up games but in the case of The Last Ninja, it makes the music sound way off.

And yes I've done emulation and I completely understand "Why pay for something that you can get for free" - But that's because we've been doing it for so long. But the truth is, it really is illegal. (At least if you don't own the original physical copy of the game that is) - And I enjoyed playing emulation on my DS. But now to play it on my gamepad is great!
If the Wii u was hacked and we could do emulation via the gamepad.. Would I do it? Yes, probably. But I don't see that happening too soon, and Nintendo is gonna make it difficult this time around i would say to KEEP it hacked.
So for now, I'll buy the games that I really like and enjoy my gamepad screen VC!
And other than Balloon Fight. All Wii U Virtual Console games for Europe are at 60hz.

Only have a few Genesis and SNES titles i got but these titles are ones i never owned in cart format. The Classic controller i have no issues using and prefer most of the time. Wiiware was okay...i like the Rebirth of Contra and Castlevania adventure but nothing else was worth it for me. N64 games forget it..i used my club nintendo points for Paper Mario and thats it.
I support the Wii VC a lot. I have quite a large number of games on it, and the remote sideways works quite well for NES, TG16, and Genesis games with 1 or 2 buttons. Anything beyond that, and I use the Classic Controller. For me, it worked just fine with Super Adventure Island II. I gotta say, the classic games look pretty amazing through component and 480p on the Wii. This was how I played many of the games that I'd missed out on, like New Adventure Island, Bonk's Adventure, Kirby's Dream Land 3, Wonder Boy in Monster World, Mega Turrican, and the aforementioned Super Adventure Island II.
...and then I got my Xbox modded. I've been going through a moral dilemma ever since.
Even though I'm too picky to live with emulation I think virtual console is the best idea ever. There's so many classic games and this gives a new generation of gamers a legal way of experiencing true classics. Legal emulation also gives real jobs to emulator programmers.
I prefer to own the original versions. In theory, the VC would be great for situations where owning the original is either overly expensive or a hassle. In practice, it's pretty weak. The selection could be a lot better. In particular, it took them way too long to bring SMS, C64, and Arcade sections to the VC, and the selection for those as well as N64 is abysmal. The C64 emulator is also messed up. I also would've liked to see other home computers, Sega CD, Saturn, etc. on there.
I bought a few games. But I thought the prices were kind of high considering. I buy more lately on the 3DS because its the ideal console for handheld emulation as its portable. But on the Wii I stuck mostly to imports we never got or games I never played. On the WiiU I've been getting the 30 cent releases. But will not be paying 8 dollars for Super Mario World. They need to bring the prices down closer the the App Store level is they want me to seriously consider buying a lot of their games.
I bought a few games off of the virtual console around 2008-2011. it was some of more expensive games for mostly genesis, nes, snes, n64 and tg 16 . it had a ok selection but one thing that bothered me was the very slow trickle of games being released for it in the us while japan usually got a awesome selection of games on the vc.
same thing seems to be happening with the vc on the 3ds unfortunately with very slow releases outside of japan, nintendo of america doesn't seem to give a crap about supporting the virtual console these days. the 3ds virtual console has so much wasted potential, how about some gba, snes, genesis and tg 16 games on the 3ds vc?
I have also gotten download codes for a few good games off of the club nintendo site the past few months with club nintendo coin codes, I got super metroid from club nintendo at the beginning of may. they now have super mario rpg up for this months reward, unfortunately I already bought it back in 2010 on the wii vc.
I supported the Wii VC as well. I agree that it was maybe overpriced, though not too terrible. I tend to prefer having "legal" copies of games, and in most cases what I purchased were games that were just too much of a pain to track down the original versions. Also, I am extremely paranoid about the batteries in the carts that used them. i have the bits to open carts...doesn't mean I enjoy putzing with that.
I was largely OK with the quality of the emulation. I will say in Castlevania 3, something was off with the beams shot by the final form of Dracula compared to the original cart version that made fighting him even harder. In the cart version the arrow projectiles he fires at you dissipate upon hitting the floor or the sides. In the emulation, the individual arrows shift a bit, making it a little harder to dodge them.
Is it possible maybe they're using a revised version of the ROM? You know how some sets have Rev A or B? Might not be an error.Quote:
