Awesome.

Pulseman, Rocket and Sonic all mixed into one I guess. Great graphics and music but animation looks choppy. Could have been vimeo though.
I don't like the protagonist's design, but seems the 16-bit art is spot-on. I'm simply fed up with endless 8-bit retro sprites..
I can only echo. Yet another excellent looking game from a surprising trend of quality retro and throwback games!
Holy hell, this was not forgotten !
I remember this years ago on Sound Shock forums...
Hopefully, it won't be brutal like I Wanna Be The Guy Gaiden.
For months I've been telling people, there's a proper way, and in improper way to do pixel like graphics.
Pixel graphics should never be an excuse for bad graphics, and look at what we have here compared to so many other indie games right now.
Highly detailed backgrounds
Excellent animation
Interesting bosses
Actual level design instead of levels designed for no reason than to test patience (a la I wanna be the guy)
Good music instead of using as3sfx for laziness
And no stupid memes to be seen so far.
I am looking forward to this.
Strider has been replaced by a pengiun in a diaper. I wish more people would learn asm programming so this could also be a real genesis homebrew. So many "homage" pc / whateverware games.
*looks again* Strider and vectorman got into an orgy with a pengiun.....and this's the result!
I have to admit that it looks pretty interesting! Probably becuase it has that 16-bit zany, off the wall look and sound! It's great that they are going to release the game f orfree to play over on rippledotzero.com. I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for this one! June 28th 2013 is not that far off! Mark your calendar folks!
Woah, I really really love the way the penguin looks. Really wanna try playing this game. I love animals in videogames <3.
*misreads title as new sega genesis platformer coming out
*watches clip on site
*very excited, shutup and take my money feel
*reads text
*Instantly lose all interest.Quote:
Ripple Dot Zero is going to be released on June 28th,
and it will be completely free to play over on rippledotzero.com.
It is a Flash game
Oh god, the music sounds like it's from Simon Stålenhag, one of the greatest FM artists ever. I can forgive the it being a flash game just for that.
What's so bad about it being in Flash? It looks good enough.
Yeah, there's a bunch of unused music from the game here if you're interested:

DOnt give a shit its on flash, as log as it plays well.
I wanna try it out.
a flash needs no recognition here. hopes and dreams shattered again.:(
It reminds me of earthworm jim. not that it matters now though.
This is how we interpreted thread - Ripple Dot Zero, new Sega Genesis platformer but reading carefully Ripple Dot Zero, new Sega Genesis-themed platformer and posts point to flash game, which is a let down to my Mega ED.
I've played too many bad flash games. Games made with flash, gamemaker, fusion, etc. tend to have a lot of the same problems. It takes a lot of real effort to make a game in one of those environments so that it doesn't feel that way. It's like when people say a wordpress page looks like a wordpress page. A flash game looks like a flash game.
As long as they get the collision detection right....
This is really, really cool . . . game design, sound, music, graphical style, all amazing and very tastefully stylized for that "16-bit" feel. It does that better than any other "modern" indie game attempting any of that, or any modern game attempting throwback elements (like the awful synth arrangements in the likes of Sonic 4 attempting "16-bit" styled sound)
Pretty much what I was thinking too: Pulseman+Rocket Knight+Sonic theme.
:D
>Goes off to listing to some Simon Stålenhag tunes. ;)
I've put a long hard thought into this and....IT LOOKS FAWSUM! (f-cking awesome).
Looks amazing.
Also, if this turns out to be a success, why not put it on Steam?
So will this ever be available on a cart to play on the real thing? Looks fantastic! Love it already and am excited to actually buy this! :D
Blast Processing YO
Quick headsup: the game was released today.
Play it/ get it here (look online to check out how to download embedded swfs): www.rippledotzero.com.
Very awesome !
I wish it wasn't a flash game, it chugs so bad on my laptop...
First impressions:
It's Okay. Good music, but the game being in Flash sucks ass. You can only play it on their site; attempting to do otherwise results in un-skippable ads being generating during load screens (sneaky bastards), the game screen being stuck in the top left corner (and the full screen shortcut doing diddy) and to top it off, you can't even start the game as the map screen refuses to register the Enter key. You have to play it on their site for it to work right, which is bull.
I'm just going to wait for the eventual soundtrack rip.
I found my first bug... you can fall through floor in the deserty stage past the exit teleporter.
EDIT: Played through the game. I throughly enjoyed every moment of it ! Rescue those others, it'll be worth it
