What 2d games would you like to see remade with today's graphics

You know how games like golden axe and metal gear were given updated sequels and done pretty well.
I always wanted to see that earthbound dd come out for the 64.
I don't like what happened to megaman in the 64 edition.
But what classic games would you like to see on shelves with a modern look today?
Mine is the controversial Secret of Evermore.
Now I had both Mana And Evermore and I always preferred Evermore over Mana (I know I must be asking for it with that one)
But I never really got into the story with mana like I did with Evermore.
I have to say the music was the deal breaker on this one.
That music is my all time favorite game music EVER.
I wish it had an updated version for a new console just to give me a reason to buy one.
Since there aren't even many hacks for the original I must be crazy to think it would sell.
Doesn't mean I don't still want it though.

If they would stop doing cruddy remakes with bad music and mediocre UT3 engines I could think of a lot of games. Since they won't I wish they would stop remaking games and focus on porting them with some simple enhancements and more focus on gameplay quality control. Instead they focus on online features and idiot proofing for memory card removal or random system power offs. If they could adequately test the gameplay with controller and HD TV lag in mind these re-releases would be good if they just supported modern TVs at RGB quality and an option for 16:9.

The best I have seen is the R-Type remake that lets you flip on the fly from the original graphics to the 3D engine. But it would have been much better if the 3D graphics weren't such low details. I want to see a 3D rendition of the game that uses the same tiles as the original for textures. People freaking love Minecraft for its stupid pixel art textures and obvious Zelda/Dragon warrior references. An actual classic game remake that did something similar without exaggerating the pixels or making everything look like an NES game would be awesome in my opinion.

That said, I kind of like the way Sonic Generations handled the Sonic 1 levels with 2.5D elements. I just don't like how the graphics look at all. A similar approach to the Shinobi games would be awesome if they perfected the look and feel while adding the 3D dimension only for effect or gameplay enhancement.

Sadly, I'm not expecting anything but quick generic engine adaptations to ever come about.

I want modern super scaler games...

Didn't the dreamcast have a 3d ish scaler game like space harrier?

Really i cant think of any.
But I wish they had NEVER remade Splatterhouse with today's graphics. Instead they went and desecrated that legendary piece of gaming, turning it into complete junk.

I never got into the old ones much, I have played some of the first 3 (I think) on My r4.
Never knew they remade that one. But as much as I remember, and not to offend your opinion,
there wasn't really much to them. I'm almost afraid to ask but, how could anyone screw up a remake of Spatter House? I mean its just a violent gore fest right?
If I missed something, please let me know, I would hate to miss out if it is indeed worth it.(the REAL Spatter Houses that is) And what didn't/did they do in the remake that turned the series off for you?

Splatterhouse 3 is completely different from the other 2. The first 2 are really basic walk right and punch or cut everything fests. The third isn't like that. It has a really good story with extremely creepy cutscenes, each level is non linear as you can explore the different rooms (somewhat, the time limit is too strict if you want the good ending), and it's a proper beat'em up.

That's the one I remember most with the doors and headless/handless monsters on the first stage.
its better than the first 2, maybe the arcade was the best?
I don't really see how the 360 ruined it, the screen shots look cool.
Maybe it was the story re-write that blew it....

Vectorman with stylized graphics like Mirror's Edge and a 60fps engine so the sphere parts can move smoothly. Vectorman himself and the various robots would have the same weird, cartoonish design but the spheres and all the other parts they are made of will look photo-realistic with real time reflections and stuff like that. There would be no voice acting, only robotic sounds. And a Techno soundtrack of course, no "epic" orchestral stuff.

Orch techno is ok, did you check out consoul? that music was made on fruityloops studio.
Yes vectorman needs a remake too. I would like to see Alex Kidd(miracle world) done in "New" too.
On a side note you wouldn't believe how many kids I proved I had a master system just like theirs when I told em to turn it on without a game and alex kidd was on the system.
