No, you don't need a 100 terabyte harddrive, an uber-graphics card, or a eight-core CPU to be happy. This is why I sit here enjoying my classic game consoles and CDs/tapes/vinyl beside a relatively low-end PC.

The only reason I got an HTC Vivid was to have fast internet on the fly so I could troll shops and check prices discretely. The only reason I ever got a cell phone back in 1998 was because the service price was cheaper than my land line long distance fee. I've always built my own PCs and bought "budget" last year tech because it was always new to me. I currently have too much tech in my house in my opinion, but I've gotten hooked on checking forums on my 2005 Toshiba laptop while we watch shows on the self made HTPC.
If the power goes out I would be mostly afraid for how I was going to keep most of the food in my freezer safe, and how I was going to keep looters out of my house.

It doesn't all have to be cutting edge! We grew up in this transitional period for technology. Definitely agree with this stance.
I wish that at least small CRTs were still produced. Some older systems prefer CRT TVs. I prefer to have both a modern TV and a CRT TV in the same room.Quote:

I can't say I've ever been an early adopter when it comes to new technology. Usually it's expensive and initially full of problems that get fixed in a cheaper and vastly improved version later down the line.
I embrace any level of tech, it all depends what the hardware is designed to do. For something like our washing machine and dryer I prefer low tech since there's really no need for fancy computers to help with washing my clothes. For my amplifier again I like low tech, gaming systems I also enjoy low tech because it forced developers to be creative and work within limits. I also like old consoles that're dedicated pieces of hardware that don't use much electricity and overheat. For a computer however low tech I think is stupid. For cars I prefer low tech. It all depends what the item is. These days companies want to make even the simplest machines ultra high tech which is extremely stupid.
