We North Americans also bought Playstations though. A lot more Playstations.
Without North America, the N64 would have bombed.

30-something percent of the market isn't bad. Quite decent. And in absolute numbers, it was only a very slight decline from the SNES (23 to 20 million). It was the Gamecube where North America saw the big collapse (going from 20 to 12 million), and even then the GC still sold 2/3rds of its worldwide total in North America, just like the N64 had, and was still a profitable system, if not quite as profitable as the N64 had been.
I agree ff7 sucks. I remember being so excited about it too after the amazingness which is known as ff6.
That's a fantastic start, my first rpg was ff4, which is another major win.

I think it's overrated but I still like it, adds a new type of "role playing" aspect.
You can't just leave out regions just because you want to distort the picture of how successful a system was... that's not how it works.
And again, both systems were profitable. For a business, that is an important factor. Like, the Atari 7800 was profitable, while the Jaguar wasn't... that does matter.
I think you've got it backwards. You're leaving out the rest of the world and concentrating on the success it had in North America only. The overall sales of the Super NES was @ 17.5 million more units than the N64 and 28 million more units more than the Gamecube. The NES only sold about 12 million more units than the SNES though. Considering that a hell of a lot more consoles were sold during the N64 generation, the number is even less impressive.
Yes, maybe 10-13 years ago saying Final Fantasy VII sucks would get you looked at funny but the Internet's judgement on it is pretty harsh these days.
it ha sjust aged very badly
the story makes no sense what so ever and is poorly translated as well
i still have no fucking clue what its actually about and it could have done with out sepiroth being al bishie ( it coudl have done with out him at all really )
Sephiroth is the only thing I found interesting in the game. I couldn't have cared less when aerith died, I felt zero attachment to any of the characters. If it were my choice I would have made the entire game you playing as sephiroth and the goal is to rule the world.
What?! How can you not instantly fall in love with this stumpy rag tag group? That's just crazy.

- Super obscure consoles are obscure because they were trash.
- The Hell I say with y'all who buy obscure old hardware just because it's obscure.
- Jaguar is an amazingly disappointing piece of crap.
- Nothing SNK is worth the price tag or even close.
- Saturn was mediocre. The name was way cooler than the system.
- The Hell I say with y'all who import Japanese region games, or think importing is the key to making your console worthwhile.
- GameStop is not as bad as all the whiners and moaners make it out to be.
- Nintendo DS is the greatest handheld of all time, though it will likely be surpassed by the 3DS at some point.
- Shin Megami Tensei games are way fanboyed out and overrated.
- A lot of "tactical" games from Japan are soulless, tedious, boring shit. Anyone who says they enjoy these games are simply lying.
- Every SHUMP may as well be the same damn game. Overrated genre.
- People have a stick up their ass when it comes to the smaller "underdog" developers, they take joy in trashing their games, and riding the same repetitive ass game series cock that crank out 10000 installments and DLCs year round instead of really trying something else before trashing it.
And done.
