Yep, I still play Night Trap, Sewer Shark, Microcosm, Loadstar, Star Wars Rebel Assault, and Corpse Killer the same as I did back in the day, with a huge can of salt toward the acting and a focus on trying to play the game well. When the FMV and acting is crappy it was crappy back in the day, when it pulls off okay it still pulls off okay.
The scenes in Wing Commander III and IV and Prophesy were awesome, as were the in game FMV segments from other pilots and whatnot. I think they are still awesome. I always thought Mortal Kombat games looked campy and Shinobi Legions too. Technically D, Mansion of Hidden Souls, and Killer Instinct are FMV games as well, they just digitized CGI instead of live footage. I've always said that had CGI been further along in 1991 FMV would have taken off.
Take the same bad voice acting, or no voice acting, and put it on any kind of CGI and for some reason people love it. Just look at Final Fantasy PS1 games.
