I'm going to be moving soon and am going to have to put a lot of stuff in storage for a while. I've been thinking about the Retron 5 because of this. I especially like the save state ability since I've got a bunch of carts with dead batteries that I can't be assed to replace.
Slap in an Atari 2600 slot and it'd be perfect for me.
We'll see what the reviews have to say.
I hope you're referring to the sound from AtGames clones and not GOACs as the latter are actually quite good. The first legal GOAC clones with the TecToy-580G did, however, sound pretty nasty because their audio amps were garbage.Quote:

Or I could just go Composite on everything.

It was a decent review, he talked about the video quality (I think the original video has video footage of it playing R Type) and he said the controllers suck so use original and the sound isn't up to par. Some games didn't work. Another words, being honest.Quote:

Okay, this, I get, but those who can solder actually CAN make a GOAC-based clone sound like a VA0 to VA6.8 Genesis Model 1 minus the DAC noise as GOACs use the YM3438. I think I should start bulk ordering clone consoles and selling them pre-modified with all sorts of fixes to the manufacturer's screw-ups.Quote:

That site kinda implies that they're still using SOACs and at the same time kinda implies that they're not. Are they trying to say that they're using hardware emulation but not just hardware emulation? I don't know. I can't make much sense of that.
This just sounds way too good to be true if it's not using software emulation. There's gotta be a catch somewhere. This would be worth it for the [presumably] clean, properly-upscaled image alone.
