since we got rpg's in the 80s. movies are a very limited medium for that. even books are. a videogame is mure more information and interactive. in a movie or even a book if you find something interesting you can't delve into it because the information isn't there. after all a movie is 2 hours and a book maybe 6 hours at most. if you hate stories then stay away from games like the last of us and stay away from movies and most books. you'll have an interesting life I'm sure of it.

It looks like a good game but it's not for me.

I don't like games with stealth and I don't like third person shooters much (depends on how it's done as I love Vanquish) and I don't like zombie survival games or stories (and don't give me crap that they're fungus-infected-whatsits or something, they're still zombies) so it's like a combination of things that don't interest me.

If you are a fan of all those things though it looks very well made.

So earlier I got the beer, cigs, food, I was all set. :mrgreen:



I must say I was really impressed with what I've played so far of this game. It has major similarities with Uncharted, it also has a lot of differences, more so than I expected. Firstly it is a much darker game and its gunfights are very difficult and best to avoid as much as possible. You cannot expect to try approach things gun blazing or you will have an extremely frustrating experience.
Also, the characters are amazing even better than dare I say it the Uncharted characters. They are much more believable and really do a fantastic job at driving the story forward.
The voice acting is unbelievable don't know how they managed to do it so well.


BTW, a heads-up to those that might not be aware (don't know if this has subsequently been fixed or not),
There's an auto-save bug that could ruin your progress. It's not being caused by the new patch, and it affects both disc and digital versions.
So, be sure to check that the system is indeed saving your progress.
Seems like you've got to play offline. I had the auto-save issue straight away again when online, went offline, issue resolved.

Why should I care about this game? Naughty Dog hasn't been relevant since the PS1 days.

Everyone is giving this game perfect scores. Suspicious right there. Something isn't right here at all.

I only care about survival horror when it's designed on purpose to disturb the crap out of you. I don't care about post apocalyptic scenarios, boring as shit and too depressing for my liking.

If The Last of Us is basically Resident Evil 1 with a good story, meh, pass.

I like how you have to ration your supplies while you're surviving. Incredible realism overall. *Edit* Humans are bullet sponges though.

the game is no doubt the most scary I've ever played. it scares the shit out of me. this is how resident evil should've become. the game is so intense that after a series of encounters I simply have to go to let all the steam out. that's how intense. absolutely brilliant

Damn I wish I had a PS3, might have to go to my mates and give this a go, it looks good.

but its a game
why should it be realistic ? isnt the purpose of a game to be as unrealistic as possible ?
and if its so realistic why does it have zombies then ?
isnt that cross purposes ?
it wants ot be realistic but presents an unrealistic scenario

it would have probably worked better with out zombies
and just have the remnants of so called civilised people go at each others throats
then it woudl have its much vaunted realism

i personally dont understand the current gaming communities and developers obsession with realism
its a game
it doesnt need to be realistic
if i want realism ill go outside

They weren't interesting to me personally, but to be fair I'm pretty sure the Uncharted series has kept Naughty Dog pretty relevant.

There's nothing wrong with realism when it's being used as a tool for immersion. If it's not your thing it's not your thing but a lot of people enjoy it. It makes the reality they're experiencing more believable.

Some video games strive to be unreal, other video games have always striven to be more real. Virtual reality is edging towards a comeback for a reason now that we have the technology.

I'm sick of tired of people complaining a game is too casual, a game is too realistic, a game is too unrealistic a game is too whatever. We have room for all of those type of games. The interactive medium of video games can be more than just what you personally enjoy.

Edit: I do agree that this game did not need zombies. They're just there because zombies are popular.
