I'm about one hour into this game. So far I'm enjoying it. The intro was done incredibly well. Hopefully the rest of the game will follow suit, and I'm fairly sure that it will.

Documentary of The Last of Us and its development process. Thoroughly enjoyed watching it.
I recommend only watching it after you've finished the game, though.
The 'Last of Us' opening week sales figures,

First week sales for the biggest title of 2013 to date, The Last of Us (PS3), are in. The game sold around 1.3 million units worldwide making it the biggest launch of 2013. This is nearly 200,000 units above BioShock Infinite which sold 1.16 million units in its opening week across the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Interesting to see how well a good exclusive can sell.
I just beat The Last of Us and here is my spoiler free review/recommendations.
I just put over 20 hours into this game and I do not regret one minute of it. One of the best current generation games ever, but not a perfect 10. I agree with Game Informer's 9.5 review. The game is mostly a linear experience with only one ending and pre-determined choices. Like for example there is a scene where an armored vehicle that is a huge nuisance. If it were me, I would shoot out the tires and watch the driver loose control of the vehicle, then kill him, but instead the game chooses how you deal with it.
The game's incredible graphics really shine during the real-time cut scenes, but during actual game play there is noticeable texture pop-ins everywhere (due to the PS3's limited RAM). The controls are responsive, but I experienced issues with moving the character forward while being in stealth. Stealth being a highlight of the games overall experience. I don't know if this is due input lag or complex character animation, but at times it was bothersome. The story simply cannot be matched by any other game period. The story is simple enough for most but at the same time it is complex and sophisticated. Not everyone will agree or accept the ending, so be ready for that. Just keep in mind that this is a kill or be killed, stressful environment. People die in many, many horrible ways. There is no good guy in this game. Everyone has dirt on them. This is not a random zombie game by any stretch of the imagination. Some of the humans are more sadistic and vile than any of the zombies. I highly recommend this story driven, survival horror, stealth-action game. Yo will not regret it. This game pisses all over
Resident Evil 5 and 6.
Recommendations
Put all your points into listen mode and health first.
Improve your holsters first.
Save your shivs. You'll need them for lock picking.
Run and hide if you get detected, then kill. Use ammo only when necessary. Stealth kills are key.
Use bricks whenever you can.
I finished it too a while ago and the storyline ending was a disapointment to me, although I can see why they were going with it. still the game is so intense and great. I will soon play it again now on hard
Not an issue at all for me tbh, but it might be for others?

They better have replaced all the characters with awesome robots.

All too accurate. MAKE IT HAPPEN!
EDIT: I vomited a bit at the low res jpeg pics.
So far I reckon it's only affecting the multiplayer portion of the game. Maybe later on it might be determined that possibly there might also be stuff that was cut from the single player? I'm not sure.

Posters on both the PlayStation and Naughty Dog forums expressed concern over differing animations when performing executions, the removal of enemy limb dismemberment, and the amount of blood spray experienced when killing another player during multiplayer matches.
