well yeah there is that
but all sony had to do was not follow microsoft's assinine decisions
all sony did was maintain the staus quo as it has been for years
and i hope nintendo wont go the route of sega either but their current showing ( or lack of showing because it is very conservative and lacks any kind of surprise or ambition ) isnt very hopefull
It's because it is Sony. This wasn't some altruistic,"for the gamers" move. They sat back and watched MS flounder with bad press, waited to see if it would blow over, or if it continued.
So they used it as an easy opportunity to get a quick 1up on MS.
Had the collective reaction to the DRM/online stuff been, "meh, whatever" you can bet your ass they would have a different stance.
They purposefully stayed completely vague and elusive on the topic until they gauged how MS fared and then simply announced the PS4 would be no different than the PS3 in regards to online requirements and DRM... and people went crazy like it was some gigantic innovative announcement.
The fact that they now have a paywall for their online experience that is on parity to MS, and the fact that any studio can implement DRM the exact same as they can on MS's system was all relegated to the background because they can soundbyte something that made them look good.
And of course legitimately spanked MS on the pricing, which is absolutely something they learned the hard way last gen.
I do think MS is going to get the "3rd system blues" this time around. They did great with the 360, and maybe thought they could be different and use that to push something forward unlike those who have failed in the past, but will just need to see.
no you are not important enough to have my sole focus. it's more that I read bitching whining posts and they tend to be from you. if tomorrow sony announces free games and 199 price you will still find a way to bitch about it saying like yeah because they only do it for launch and have only 500,000 systems aivailable for it to stir up interest.
the ps4 in fact looks very promising. the most important thing is that it's finally very easy to program for. another mistake sony learned from then

They aren't consoles, we should make a point not to call them game consoles. They are social media, cloud whoring set-top boxes that happen to play games. Soon most televisions sold will have most of the same "features" and they won't be game consoles either.
Meh, blah.
Wow, it looks like Microsoft went a little overboard making sure they didn't get a repeat of the overheating issue that caused all of those 360 3RL errors. I don't mind a large box if it is made well, but bigger than the PS3 is WAY too big.
