Good point! In 10 years the only ones with access to XBox One games will be those who have hacked their consoles to play without all this authentication crap involved.
This is why going "digital only" and all this other bullshit that microsoft claims is the way of the future, will eventually prove to be bad.
It's a valid point yes. But a bit of FUD. It's something people NEED to be aware and watchful of to be sure, but any game you buy digitally, or that has DLC, or needs any sort of authentication of any type is in the same situation for all/part of the game. That has been true since it started.
So using it as a "point" against MS is basically just stretching for a reason to hate on them in specific because you quite literally have no idea how they will handle it. They could go the steam route and "promise" they will do something at the end, but then you are trusting a corporation to hold to their word at some unspecified point in the future.
Maybe that's 10 years, maybe it's 30, maybe it's not until you are dead and buried. There is no way to be 100% certain when they would take the service down or what steps, if any, they will take at that point.
Yes, they do the same thing with movies there too. So long as you downloaded it and have it it's usable, but the license for them to provide it again is gone. So they can no longer provide it.
Essentially it's similar to you losing the disk. You bought it, you owned it, but you don't have it any longer... so how do you get it again?
It'd great if buying it online was 100% guarantee of you always having it... but MS doesn't own all the games, and even some of the games they do own may use IP they don't have 100% control over. It happens, and it sucks, but it's the reality.
They let you keep it and play it as long as it's on your system and working... but if you get a new system, or delete it by mistake, or whatever might cause that installed/downloaded version to stop working... you are now out of luck unless they are still able to provide it for download again.
That won't be any different on any new console in practice, just some specific details. The only way around it is if there are tools (provided by the company, or made by users later) to bypass/backup the restrictions on use.
I used to think that too, until I saw otherwise or tried it myself (forget which came first). It doesn't work for everything, but almost anything with decent sized rubber feet (or non-rubber for that matter) will be enough to counter the modest curve of the top, so long as you have it centered. (ie you don't have much freedom to slide anything around on top, it has to be near the middle to stay solidly seated) Even something as small as the Dreamcast fits OK that way iirc. (Game Cube would be one of those bad examples though)
PS3 is too convex for that though AFIK, even the Slim. (you could rig up a tray/stand to fix that though :p )
If it's like typical PC game DRM, used games are still doable at least.
I was pretty sure normal Steam games could be sold used too . . . ie have their licenses/keys transferred between users/accounts. Steam also offers their own trade-in service for licenses, but I was pretty sure you could opt to go on your own with that as well.Quote:
They designed a console specifically for the purpose. They just backed out at the last minute. That's like saying steam doesn't block used games because developers can opt out of the DRM... come on now... And you HAVE to go through an accepted retailer (like gamestop) you *cannot* sell any xbox one game on ebay.
I find the title to be tasteless. Prepare to insert foot in mouth when Xbone does well. Are you fifteen or something?
Hey guys, sales speak for themselves. PS4 is dominating with both hardware and software. Look!--->http://www.amazon.com/best-sellers-v...s/ref=sv_vg_11
I agree. People that are whining about the DRM are going to be surprised on just how well Xbox One will do and when Sony too implements it for PS4.
As for the OP, yeah sounds like something I'd say when I was 16 about Dreamcast.(I was a tool about Dreamcast back in high school) I've learned and matured over the years about bias. I've learned that bias is bullshit but passion must be maintained.
Having more fantasies Mr. Sega? Again you are wishing that Sony implements DRM, even though Jack Tretton himself said that the PS4 will be just like the PS3 when it comes to DRM. And like my post above, sales speak for themselves.
These are the facts. If you guys refuse to live in reality than you are the ones who are behaving like children. Big overgrown 30 year old children living in the basement of your mom, lol.
Hey, I'm an impartial gamer. But I will not put up with Microsoft's draconian ways. I stood in line at the Toys R Us in Carson, CA for 2 hours for the original Xbox. I have more games for my Xbox 360 than my Dreamcast, PS3 or PS2. Ever play Mushihime-sama Futari, Espgaluda 2 or any other exclusive Xbox 360 Cave shmups? I doubt it. I've played more Xbox and Xbox 360 than any most people here probably ever will. So don't label me as a Sony fanboy.
I would have pre-ordered an Xbox One in a hot minute if it wasn't for the foolish DRM.
Again, here are the FACTS!, not my sick fantasies like you Mr. Sega.
PS4 (hardware and Software) is leading sales at Amazon.com ---->http://www.amazon.com/best-sellers-v...s/ref=sv_vg_11

MICROSOFT NEWS EVEN ADMITS IT!!!---->http://microsoft-news.com/sony-plays...crosoft-react/
Keep dreaming Mr. Sega. ;)
^ Word.
I was a total Xbox1 fanboy, words cannot describe how pissed off I am at the name alone...
There's news regarding Xbox One:

You can connect your 360 into the Xbox One via HDMI. And BTW, Lan Di one of your articles was inaccurate. MS never said anything about PS4.
So basically its xbox one vs steam/steam box and WiiU vs PS4.
