Yeah, I was like "what forum is he reading? It's just sheath saying that Xbox One DRM wasn't anything bad while the rest said FU MS.

That's a bit uncalled for. I explicitly said people can and should be taking it to MS on the things they have.
What I was against was the unfounded BS that people were bringing up to bash them for things they have gone on record as addressing already, or that weren't even valid to start with.
I mean sure, maybe your best online friends cousin's buddy worked with a guy who knew someone inside MS that said the kincect was going to listen for the sound of you fapping and turn on just to record it and send it to MS... but all we have is what MS has said, on record, will be the situation, no product, and a crap load of people stating... "BUT WHAT IF?!?!?!".
Sorry, lot of bullshit there.
Online policy? Fire away. Used game policy? Fair game. Price? Also fair game. There was plenty to harp on and discuss without making up shit or wildly speculating that they were blatantly lying about some things but being brutally truthful about others.
Of course, other than the price, most of it is a moot point at this time.
Right now I just want to see the final versions of games I give a shit about being placed into a final production system and played. That goes for both the Xbone and the PS4.
Let's assume Edward Snowden never revealed the documents, and someone told you the government was spying on everyone through a program called prism. Would you believe them? Of course not. But now you know, something that conspiracy theorists have been harping about for ages has been proven true, what guarantee do you have that kinect *wouldn't* be used for spying if the government so requested, I mean, originally you *couldn't turn the fucking thing off period*, do you not see a reason at all for people to be pissed off such a requirement exists? Really? The whole "listen for the sound of you fapping" is just a ridiculous strawman from people trying to make those that give 2 shits about privacy to be lunatics.
Man, can you imagine having to work for that government agency? Consider the demographic. Your eyes would probably rot out of your head on the first day. :D
Interesting Edge magazine article. It remains to be seen if this turns out to be true since Microsoft changed the stance on DRM.

You know, I don't really like seeing all of this "Microsoft has already lost" stuff, and I'm a PS guy, I've bought the PSX, PS2 and PS3. But the bottom line here is that neither system has even been released yet. We don't know many of the exclusive games yet. OK, so the XBox One is going in a different direction than its predecessor. All the cloud stuff and kinect stuff may not be for me, but I'm not going to hate on M$ for doing something different and evolving as a company. I just think that everyone should hold off on blowing their wads until both systems are out and we can actually play them both.

Man, I stopped watching this Sony lover thread a while back and this is what I get? When did I say DRM of any kind was good? You people seriously ought to start reading more coherently. I said Sony will, and mark my words, enact their own kind of DRM as soon as the smoke clears. Now whether this be Gaikai only releases increase until the weed out physical discs or some other method, they will increase their DRM to a per account lock down, so will Microsoft for that matter. It is the future of mainstream gaming.
In other news, we had a long standing Playstation gamer over today for lunch. The only significant recent news she had was that her husband sold his 360 to get a PS4, reason being they just "had to get away from all of that DRM junk MS tried to pull." Sony has these people wrapped around their uncaring finger.
I agree 100% that digital downloads is indeed the future. Steam is living proof of that. The problem I have is that publishers are charging full retail price for digital versions of a game. There is no middle man, no manufacturing costs, no printing of manuals (Sony and Microsoft has already started that), and no risk of theft and loss. I had a friend once that worked for UPS. He told me horror stories involving drivers selling games under the table that were supposed to be shipped to retail stores. So you would think that these companies would lower the price of digital releases. But in the end capitol is the only thing that matters. So I agree that its common knowledge that ultimately a business has to look out for its bottom line, assets, and investments.
I would have had more respect if Microsoft chose to lower the prices of digital releases, minimized the far reaching control of Xbox Live, and did not try sell gamers on the notion that viewing TV on you Xbox One is revolutionary. Whats really happening is data farming. Xbox TV is simply a marketing scheme meant to farm information and sell it to investors/partners. Xbox TV and Kinect are data collecting tools in the guise of sophisticated entertainment period. Just like Facebook is a data collecting service. That's why it is free. You pay with your information to a certain degree.
steam is currently tempting me with 75% off sonic all stars racing transformed and a free weekend
and damn their eyes its working !
I bought Sonic Generations today for $7.50. I suppose I had better actually play it before something happens and I can't download it again.
Your Playstation 4 digital Library Will Be Playable on Other Peoples PS4's

PS4 Will Allow You To Play Your Games From Multiple Consoles
“You can log into your account and play any game from your digital library.
Sony has confirmed that players will be able to access their PlayStation 4 game library by logging into their account from any console.
Speaking at the Develop conference in London, Sony R&D senior team leader Neil Brown explained that the process is possible thanks to “Play As You Download,” which will allow players to begin playing a game even before they’ve downloaded the entire thing.
“You can visit your friend’s house [and] log into your account and play any game from your digital library, which is good,” Brown said. “But how useful is that if it takes half a day to download the game you want to play? With Play As You Download you get much quicker access to at least the first section of the game so you can start playing quicker. So this makes a digital library a practical option in the real world.”
Brown explained that players also won't have to wait to install games to their consoles.
“A similar system also works on Blu-ray. Chunks are automatically copied to the hard drive in the background,” he said. “This means that after the first few minutes your game can rely on having faster read speeds from the hard drive, which provides a better experience for players. And this is a completely background process for the player. They don’t have to wait for anything to install before playing the game. The game will launch as soon as the disc has been put in the drive.”
Not exactly a unique type feature. You can already play your digital content on a friends PS3 as long as you sign into your account.
Been like this ever since the PS3 launched. I guess it's nice though that Sony has confirmed this for PS4 as well.
The article kinda implies though that perhaps it won't be limited to 2 consoles at a time like is currently done with PS3's?
I don't follow current gaming news up to the minute, but I thought that Sony, when pressed for specifics, had admitted that the PS4 was setup for DRM and that they had only promised not to include it in "their" (first party) games, but third parties are free to go wild with it in any way they choose?
