But I agree that if there will not be a PS5 or XboxTwo or whatever then at some point... yes, they will absolutely have to dump support for the older iterations of hardware, just like is done with PC's and mobile devices.
If they go that route, I really want to see them offer decent trade in programs to keep current... If they try and sell me a $300-$500 device every year they can eat it.
As for the power... yes, the PS4 pro is still sadly anemic. Even the Scorpio's assumed specs still aren't up to snuff for "true" 4k gaming (even pc's struggle with it), but still more powerful than the pro.
They should be aiming to give the best 1080p gaming possible IMO, and simply upscale to 4k if you happen to have a 4k TV.
