But only the PS1 delivered, Saturn 3D arcade offers are little more than anecdotical, far from the arcade versions of the same games.

You clearly never played Virtua Fighter 2 or Sega Rally on the Saturn.
MS has implemented a DRM scheme, Sony hasn't. That's difference enough.
Microsoft: "We designed big purple dildos to be used by publishers, but we won't force them to use them, we'll just use our own every 24 hours"
Sony: "We gave publishers nothing, but we can't keep them from using their own big purple dildos".
It's a very different stance.
Tekken, Ridge Racer, Soul Edge and all the System 11-12, Capcom Zn-1 ports only have minor differences due to smaller RAM on the PS1, but those are practically identical.
The Saturn ports of those games left a lot to be desired in terms of graphics when compared to their arcade counterparts.
Or Virtual On, Virtua Cop 1+2, Sega Touring Car Championship, Dead or Alive, Virtua Fighter Kids, or the relatively excellent conversions of Daytona CE and Fighting Vipers, not to mention numerous 2D game conversions that turned out quite well. Boy, Sony having a day in the sun with the press sure brings out people's true colors.
For one, you've got pretty interesting spectacles if you think any of those were anywhere near Arcade perfect. For two, they are running on virtually the same hardware with more RAM in their Arcade iterations. Are you impressed by Die Hard Arcade, or does that not count like earlier Console to Arcade boards don't count?
Yes and no. Really the biggest difference is strictly the online only aspect. Ms's system, baring the check in bullshit, is admittedly a bit cumbersome, but it also costs nothing by default, which is the same price as the ps4's capability.
MS has something in place to let you trade things in/sell at stores with no fee. They have a system in place to trade with friends. They even have (alleged) systems in place/coming up for sharing with friends/rentals/etc. Of course some of that is potentially bullshit, but for the sake of argument they said it's all coming/in the works.
Then they tell you that publishers are free to bend you over and not give you a reach-around if they feel so inclined.
Sony has simply said... things will work like before... and we won't bend you over, but we're totally cool to watch if others do it.
They both have the same capabilities on paper... the only real difference is that MS's is going to require more steps (yes, bad), and still has that online check in bullshit by default.
On a game by game basis that may all be the exact same between the systems, but we won't have any way to know until they are released... but at the very least I think MS is getting the shaft from developers if they keep their stance as is, and don't get a huge pile of exclusives for their troubles.
MS can, should... but probably won't... change the default required online check stuff. Removing that and tweaking their verbiage on the rental/sharing stuff a bit would remove almost all differences between the two consoles in this area.
The only fight that would be left is pricing. Which they could eat, but not sure if they will.
Interesting stuff so I have an import PS2 game that have been collecting dust for the past few years. Anybody thinks that i'll be able to finally play on on a PS4? Or should I just get a modded PS2?
Or a fat PS3 or a CFW'd slim and learn the ropes on how to play your games on either.
I see it pretty likely that MS will change their 24 hour check feature. Marketingwise, they aren't the type that will rollover and let Sony win the complete consumer message.
As for the DRM, I think its obvious many publishers will certainly enforce this. Especially major western ones. Reason lies within Gamestop. Publishers are tired of GS' shenanigans and tired of losing money on returns.
Update: Kingdom Hearts 3 isn't PS4 exclusive:

Another blow to Sony Final Fantasy fans:
Final Fantasy XV is also Xbox One bound.

Problem I have is that publishers/Devs may have contractually obligated themselves to a certain number of exclusives + Exclusive DLC/content for the Xbone that will never be on the PS4, and others that will be timed exclusives in favor of the Xbone... but only if MS keeps their current standpoint.
That is quite literally the only reason I can see for MS to have this standpoint in the first place, let alone to keep it after all the negative publicity. If that is the case, and it's a large enough chunk of content, it would still be worth it for them to weather the publicity because they will have a huge advantage over Sony in the long run.
Now... if MS doesn't have that kind of thing in solid writing... Publishers and Dev's may certainly WANT MS's standpoint to stick... but they would have no issues leaving them high and dry and "listening to the fans" in order to make money.
If that's the case... MS would be idiotic to not change their standpoint to something either far more open, or just go back to what it was/is with ps3/360 and leave the whole problem up to publishers/devs to deal with.
Welcome to this morning. However the PS4 has a big benefit to it's versions. The PS4 versions of FFXV and KH3 won't be come coasters in 10 years when the online service shuts down.
It's not really a blow to any fans as it's still on the PS4. The Xbox One is dead to me at this point. This generation has essentially become PS4 vs Wii U vs PC. And in that sense, those games are PS4 exclusive.
And if Gamestop is the problem with developers losing money, why are those same developers constantly giving Gamestop bonus content to sell with their games? The answer is that used games aren't the problem at all. They are simply the scape goat as no developer wants to admit they suck at managing themselves.
Remember the Game Industry Biz rumor that TrekkiesUnite trolled me by falsely accused me of making up that claimed that there would be more than one SKU?
Well, turns out it might be true.

The E3 conference claimed it was exclusive to PS4, but its be revealed not to be the case.
Also you missed the other one, KH3 is also not PS4 exclusive. It's coming to Xbox One as well:

I can't decide which one looks uglier.

but games by all the inhouse studioes of sony won't that's the real selling point as far as exclusives go for sony.
btw I was thoroughly disapointed by ff15 trailer. it seemed like a complete action game instead of an rpg. square should go back not push this through our throats every time.
Tekken looks like crap compared to Virtua Fighter Remix and Virtua Fighter 2 and Ridge Racer is a glorified tech demo.
Because Model 2 Hardware was significantly more powerful. Not even the N64 could handle perfect ports. And I doubt the PS1 could have done a better job than the Saturn. Tekken looked like crap to begin with in the Arcade, so it wasn't that difficult for the PS1 to replicate it. The Saturn had an uphill battle to pull of those ports and it did an excellent job.
I didn't troll you, I simply said it wasn't mentioned and you are most likely wrong. That article doesn't confirm it either. Just that they are thinking about options.

Yep, was always a Playstation Brand and being on the Xbox is going to kill the novelty completely.
I don't think Tekken looked like crap compared to VF. I think the main issue with Tekken vs. VF is how many great extras Namco was able to throw in while AM2 had to port all of these games to a much less powerful hardware.
Clearly Sony won E3 in terms of price and consumer-friendly policies. FFvsXIII becoming FFXV was not a surprise but handled pretty well. Not showing The Last Guardian for either PS3 or PS4 was a disappointment. Looking forward to Elder Scrolls Online for either PS4 or PC. Microsoft seemed to show more games for the XBone than Sony did for PS4. The new Halo (Halo 5?) which is promised to run at 60fps has me interested, as does Forza 5, but a couple of games will will not be enough to make me buy an Xbone. Microsoft needs to kill all their anti-consumer policies, requiered internet connection, spying on us with the new Kinect (which of course all data WILL be passed onto the NSA) and drop the price to match Sony's.
Also, I believe Sony has not showed their full hand yet. Waiting to see which version of Battlefield 4 runs better and looks better. Either way, though, I'll be getting a decent gaming PC this fall for BF4,
as well as for Supermodel, the Sega Model 3 arcade emu. Playing Daytona USA 2 (and Super GT/Scud Race) @ 60fps is my top gaming priority this year. Perhaps TLG will be shown at TGS, or not.
Nintendo's showing was by far the worst. Super Mario 3D World seems terrible compared to the original Mario Galaxy on Wii in 2007. It's funny how Sonic Lost World is more like Mario Galaxy than Mario 3D World.
Only Mario Kart 8 looked decent. I was massively disappointed that Retro Studio's new game is another damn DKC game. That's what really killed Nintendo's showing IMO. LoZ Wind Waker HD looks alright but I'd rather see an HD remake of Twilight Princess (my fav Zelda game despite the hate it gets). As for Super Smash Bros for Wii U, too much of it was pre-rendered CG.
Vita looks dead. Xbox 360 and PS3 still look strong. I'm hoping Dragon Quest VII 3DS will get localized.
As things stand right now, my gaming machines will be:
-Highend gaming PC
-PS4
-3DS
Final note: I'm a multi-format gamer, I will eventually pretty much every gaming device (possible exceptions: Xbone, smartphones/tablets). I eventually get almost every one from each generation.
Yet there's a Model 1, Model 2, and Model 3 Arcade machine running their respective Virtua Fighters in the Smithsonian because of how groundbreaking their hardware was.
For when it came out, Virtua Fighter on the Model 1 was pretty ground breaking and amazing looking. Yeah Model 2 was better in 1994 when it got it's full release, but Model 1 was still pretty ground breaking.
Virtua Figther 2 and even Virtua Fighter Remix looked leaps and bounds better than Tekken 1 and Tekken 2.
honestly all i have this gen is 3ds. im not planning to buy neither of those. when you think of it the games still look like ps3 and 360 we all know the systems are more powerfull than the game evolution. it always takes time. but pls be awakened cause it this moment there is no real spiritual game that gets in your vains. in fat these same games with the same engines and the same setup back to back. it annoys me a lot. funny is that 3DS somehow makes me happier. resident evil revelations is good. aint playing that no mo on ps3
when you really dig from root to the fruit and honest to yourself the e3 was entirely rubbish
my dick goes vertical ones in a while. but i like the ps4 better . but the controller? i dont know it looks like the ouya controller it has the same touchscreen
