Rocket Knight -- How was it?

As a fan of the series, I originally pitched a petition to have a new Sparkster game made back in the early 2000's on PetitionOnline, which I only recently closed. Whether or not it played a role in this game from 2010, a revival of the series for PSN/XBLA/Steam, I have no clue. Who got a chance to play Rocket Knight and was it a worthy sequel?

It's certainly not a bad game but it's not stellar in any way either. The art design is kind of cute and it's well made but it's never quite as inspired as Rocket Knight Adventures. Also the sword works like it does in RKA2: Sparkster, except in the shmup levels, so you have to hit everything with the sword directly.

It's fun and worth playing but don't set your sights too high or it'll be disappointing. It's more of a nice homage and not an outright amazing sequel. To put it another way it's not as impressive as Bionic Commando: Rearmed was for Bionic Commando.

Never bothered to finish it.
