Ever thought you owned a game, and it turns out you don't have it?

Happened to me twice in the past 24 hours. One game I thought I picked up a while back, but I guess I didn't. Then I started thinking of another I was sure I had, I freakin swear I remember seeing on my shelf, and now it's no where to be found. Can't be sure I ever really had it, but I even remember where I thought I picked up it from. Haven't noticed any other games missing, so I'll have to assume I've lost my mind for now. If only I could have bothered to keep up to date my RF Generation catalog, I'd know for sure. Could be that I did buy these games and now they're just lost to the sands of time.

The games in question were Elite Beat Agents, and even more puzzling, Magical Star Sign.

Yeah certain games that I forgot that I had sold/traded in.

Well it's even weirder when know you've never sold or traded away a game that wasn't a duplicate.

It's happened to me a couple times in the past where I was convinced I had the game/s but ended up not finding it.
In my case, though, the answer wasn't that I'd lost my mind. :lol: . I DID own those games. Turns out it was a simple case of theft. Could be a possibility that might have happened to you as well?

Uhm, no, I don't collect more games than I can keep track of. If anything I'll forget that I have certain games and then when going through my collection I'll be treated to a nice surprise discovering something cool that I forgot I own.

Battle Royal for TG16. I remember having it, playing it, making note of the 5 player compatibility and everything. But I don't own it and don't know what I did with it. Aside from that I have gotten to the point of collecting that if I didn't keep a written record I would accidentally buy games I forgot I already owned. That has less to do with collecting and more to do with not playing games very much though.

Yes that's also a problem. Where I used to go game hunting with a friend, I witness them buying so many things I've sort of forgotten which they had and which I actually have. Especially when it comes to NES and PS2 so I had to make a notepad list on my phone to reference for those.

Yeah more like the other way around. For exemple a couple week ago I said to myself that I should really get hold of Gradius on the PC engine.
Then after actually writting it down on my want list I suddenly remembered I had actually bought it back in January. :daze:

Soon Ill need to have a list of the games i own, I buy more retro games than I play.

That never happened to me with my games. Probably because I keep very good track of my collection. However, I've done it with movies. Guess I need to start keeping track of the movies better.

This happened to me the other day. I wanted to see if I could get Heavy Gear 2 working since I felt like playing it after the announcement of the new Heavy Gear game Kickstarter.

But I honestly can't remember if I owned the game or if a friend owned it. I seem to recall buying it but now I'm not sure.

I know exactly what I own when it comes to consoles but it's fuzzier with old PC games.

I realized similar lately as I started to make lists of my games.

For the Genesis I have 2 copies of Gunstar Heroes, Robocop Vs. Terminator, Rocket Knight Adventures, and Sonic & Knuckles.

When compiling my Wii list I was shocked to see just how many I thought was in the list but didn't own. I'm fixing that slowly now :)

I was downright POSITIVE that my woman bought me Space Harrier on the Saturn, but damned if I can find it anywhere.

My first edition of Super Shinobi came with my MD (cart only). About three years later it simply disappeared from existance.
Wish it had happened to Altered Beast in its place.
