This is good to hear. Not to brag but I've sharpened my Contra skills over the years to where a week or so of practice I can get through Hard Corps again. One game the effing destroys me however is Batman and Robin, hoo boy :/ the Shmup levels drag on and on, by the time you've beaten them you've forgotten how to play the run n' gun portions :P Ghosts and Goblins absolutely murders me on the NES, I'm assuming Ghouls n Ghosts for the Genesis is a wee bit easier.
Batman and Robin wouldn't be too hard if it wasn't for those damn shmup levels. They're such an endurance test. I like the game but I'd love the game so much more if they simply weren't there.
It is, but it's certainly no pushover.Quote:

Back when it first game out I used to play a lot of Genesis Ghouls N Ghosts, as it was the 2nd game I had (after Altered Beast which came with the system). I got the to point where I could beat it so much I think I could have practically done it blindfolded.
Never been able to come anywhere close to beating NES Ghosts N Goblins or Super Ghouls N Ghosts. These days I doubt I could still beat Ghouls N Ghosts, either. I sometimes fire it up, but mainly in Supergrafx or arcade emulators, and I certainly suck at those versions, I assume I'd also suck at the Gen one now.
I have also beaten the game on "professional". Many times. To me the game is kind of easy. Not as easy as, say, Castle of Illusion... but still easy.
The Genesis version has a few things that make it easy:
-Arthur does not come to a grinding halt when diagonals are pressed
-If you die while fighting a boss, you respawn at said boss
-Unlimited continues
The game has less checkpoints in JP mode (From gamefaqs, for the US version: Enter the Options menu. Choose ''26'' for the music and ''56'' for sound selections, then hold Down/Left + A + B + C + Start) and the option to choose whether or not the controls detect diagonals (not sure if this affects the first bullet point). I'm not sure if the former still has the checkpoint at the boss, but the game does seem harder when set to JP mode (though I use the region switch rather than the code).
Congrats to all who have beaten it! I myself have beaten Ghosts and Goblins, Ghouls and Ghosts, Super Ghouls and Ghosts and Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins! Just haven't beaten Dai Maki Mura on Super Grafx but if I ever get the game and system consider them beat! :D
Good job. I beat it about 23 years ago.
