64 is amazing....why do people hate it so?
Because it was Mario's first foray into 3D, and I don't think it was a very smooth transition.
But I'm also not a good gauge as I hate the N64.
Ever notice how the launch poster child games are usually the best in the entire library?
Sega at least gave us more good sonic games.
Nintendo gave us the same old games redone.(with at least lost levels)
Speaking of lost levels, what the hell Nintendo?, Doki Doki hack? for super Mario 2?
WTF?
With hacks today im glad to see SMW and Sonic have many many good ones.
More of these than any other hack ever.
It seems most companies don't know what really sells.
There should have been a Luigi game for the 64.
I guess he was busy making the Mario RPG manual.
We had to wait until the ds came out to FINALLY get LUIGI.
They held him over us until the GC came out.
Then they didn't even team up the brothers!
For the record, I don't hate 64. I just don't think it's aged well, and it bothers me to see it always put on a pedestal as the greatest 3D Mario game when I feel it's been surpassed. It was definitely a great innovation for it's time though.
I dunno. I loved it when I was a kid (always liked 3 and World more though), but then when Sunshine came out I immediately liked it more. Then after playing the Galaxy games recently, I tried going back to 64 and just wanted to play the Galaxy games again.:|
At least I can play it for some nostalgia now and then, which is good enough for me.:)
I don't really think it's too much, but I'm a fan and always have been. I just have a problem with is their insistence on making the 3D Mario franchise more like the NSMB franchise (Galaxy 2/Mario 3D Land/3D World). With those games being too much like NSMB it does get monotonous for me. In fairness, I've not played 3D Land or World, but Galaxy 2 was disappointingly samey after having played through NSMB Wii.
I've often found it funny that Nintendo keeps using the same formula and rehashing over and over again & they get a free pass. While SEGA with Sonic keeps trying something new and different each time and they get chastised and slandered.
Talk about a double standard.
They need to quit changing Sonic and his gameplay, IMO the original format and Sonic Adventure were the best way to make Sonic games. Why fix what's not broken? Besides, the last two or three Sonic games to come out were met with mostly praise for finally sort-of realizing this. I am actually excited for Lost World.
you mean with innane unskippable cutscenes that tell an absolutley ridicilous story nobody cares about
a drunken spastic camera
and introducing characters nobody cares about ( the robot ) or nobody wants to play as ( that stupid fucker big )
or introducing more insane soap opera plots nobody cares about ?
hmm
i liked sonic adventure ( and cant stand sa 2 ) but the unskippable cutscenes and the innane storyline ( as well as a myriad of other problems ) usually stay my hand when i think about finally breaking the seal on my dc copy
