The Vectrex Appreciation Thread

I got my first Vectrex when I was a kid for Christmas back in 1982. Out of all my gamer friends back then maybe one other kid besides me had a Vectrex. I recently started collecting for it again. Most of the games complete in box can be had for less that $50.00. The Vectrex is like an acquired taste. Not everyone digs vector graphics. My favorites are;

Web Wars
Scramble
Armor Attack
Solar Quest
Space War
Cosmic Chasm

There are some major genre gaps for the system compared to its competitors (especially prior to the homebrew scene) but for shooters it was especially good. Mine Storm's still my favourite game for it. And the hardware itself was amazing.

Never played a Vectrex but I watched some videos and thought Solar Quest seemed very good. The sound coming out of this thing is also quite interesting!

Actually, I believe Drakon is 32 years old. So unless you are at least in your 50's, I doubt you could be his dad!

Well old enough to be his big brother cause I'm well in my 40s, lol. Hitting the big 50 is a scary thought though.:(

Mark sure loves his Vectrex.

The Vectrex is a great system, the static'y sound is a tad annoying, but the novelty of a vector graphics display is pretty darn sweet :)

I've had my fair share of laughs while trying "Spike" mainly due to the dramatic cutscenes :D

I was born in 1980, I somehow doubt this.

The Vectrex is the most interesting old school(as in pre-NES) console to me. I love the way the thing looks. I had one that didn't work too well that I had to sell for parts a while back. Very charming little system.

I have one, but I only have Berzerk and the Soccer game for it. It's a cool little system, but doesn't have enough games really, and the vector graphics are limiting. Would rather own a Star Wars or Tempest arcade cab.
