your console lineage-time line

the idea of this thread is that you dig in your brain meats
and post the consoles you have had over the years starting with the first ( in so far you can remember ) which off course wil horribly date us all

so ill start it off

my first console was the game boy
...alright alright settle down !
i have no idea any more when i got this but i do remember it was the orginal model with tetris as a pack in game

it was followed by a nes very quickly
...i said settle ! and stop throwing things !
i still have no idea when i got these though

the third machine i got was a megadrive model 1 with sonic and the mega games 1 collection as pack in games
ah good you put away the pitchforks and torches
this was 1993 ...ish ...i think maybe 1994

anyway i had those three for a good long while untill 1996 when i got an snes with street fighter 2 for my birthday
i remember that very clearly

1996 also saw me getting an atari jaguar which didnt last for very long
and an atari lynx which lasted me longer ( both were on a clearout sale if i recall correctly )

1997 saw the arrival of an n64
( pitch forks again ? i suppose this is a bad time to tell i turned in to a nin drone at the time )

1999 was a busy not too mention expensive year
first arriving in jan was a ps 1
followed by a saturn ( it was on sale i intented to buy ps 1 games i left with a saturn and 5 games )
and finally a dreamcast ( many hours were spend with that machine )

2002 saw me getting a used ps 2 and a new gamecube

2003 i got an xbox

and in 2005 i got an xbox 360

2007 ish i got a neo geo cd which was not al that neo nor geo it tended to reset it self so playing it was kind of a futile endeavour

2008 ish saw me getting a wii and quickly losing interest in it

i waited till 2010 to get a ps 3

and i wont be getting a ps 4 for quite some time
im waiting for the wii U to get a price drop ( and more games )

And memory hasn't served me well this day so I know I left some things out.

(I do not ever see myself going any further with console buying, Maybe for the kids, but they wont be mine per se so I wont count those as mine.)

Earliest console I had was an Atari 2600. I was a bit too young to really remember it that well, but right before I got the next console I remember playing Kangaroo constantly. Played on B&W TV.

December 1987 - Sega Master System (original) with Great Football, Phantasy Star. Was still very young but remember this console much better right before I got the Genesis.

December 1989 - Sega Genesis w/Altered Beast, Forgotten Worlds, Revenge of Shinobi (still have it all original sitting on my shelf - perfect shape - most prized gaming merchandise by far)

1992 - Sega Game Gear with Sonic Chaos - brand new for Christmas (funny thing is I think my parents played Columns on it and used it more than I did)

Summer 1994 - Sega CD (used from a video game store) with Sewer Shark, Third World War, Prize Fighter, Monkey Island (was all in original packaging - still have it all)

1997 - Sega Saturn (used from a video game store - still have it) - came with Virtua Fighter 2 only
1997 - Sega 32X (used from a relative - came complete but kind of beat up - got a better one later)

9.9.99 - Sega Dreamcast launch bundle with Sonic Adventure, House of the Dead 2, Soul Calibur - later in the week I'd also get Tokyo Xtreme Racer from a friend who didn't like it.

Then I got an Xbox late in its life cycle, sold it, and got an Xbox 360. I later got a Gamecube, PS2, and Wii (all sold now). Now I only have my vintage Sega stuff and the Xbox 360. I enjoy the vintage stuff much more than the new stuff but occasionally games come out that I feel are must play - few and far between though.

I also "like" how after a while on the forum some folks like to speak for everyone, as if they are part of some sort of legion.

I started gaming around 1979/1980 but didn't own any until a few years later. I would play arcade games (which were everywhere back then) and stuff at other people's houses and at school: Apple II, TRS-80, Atari, Colecovision, various handhelds, etc.. Waking up on my 8th birthday, the first present I opened was Serpentine for the VIC-20. I was confused for a second but then realized I was getting the computer, too. A family friend gave it to me. I had never asked my parents for a game system before since they always seemed way too expensive so this was an awesome surprise.

As far as showing age goes, when I was in 6th grade, we were learning spreadsheet development.....
on an Apple II E.......:?
And guess who had the computer class teacher for homeroom.......
Needless to say I played lots of apple II E games when I was supposed to be doing homework.
Which would explain why I did the 6th grade twice.:p

I meant nobody would care about anything I post. Reaching that conclusion saves a lot of post making (not that it would help seeing how I have nearly 7000 posts). I was also speaking for myself.

But if it'd make you all feel better, I'll write it out.

The first consoles/computers I had were the Apple //e, SNES, Game Boy, Windows 98 and an iMac G3 with OS 9. I don't remember the years. The Apple //e (and my mom's IIgs) were trashed and my SNES got sold. Some time later I got a GBA, GC and rebought some of my old SNES stuff. Then around when the DS came out I bought one. Starting in 2006 I took an interest in older consoles and handhelds.

2006: N64, NES, Dreamcast
2007: Genesis, Saturn, Game Gear, Xbox 360
2008: Sega CD, 32X
2009: SMS, Atari 7800
2010: Turbo Grafx-16, Apple //e, Neo Geo Pocket
2011: 3DO, Neo Geo MVS, 3DS, Atari 2600, PS3
2012: Neo Geo (AES), Wii Mini, Wii U
2013: AV Famicom

That list isn't too terribly accurate. It's hard trying to remember when I bought what. I've bought and sold a ton of stuff. Quite a few systems on that list I no longer have. I've come to learn myself better. I don't enjoy having a ton of games. I get far better play value out of a few games. At least I can say I've tried out a lot of game consoles though.
