in 1980, my dad bought the family an Atari 2600 for Christmas of that year.
in 1984, dad bought a Colleco Adam (after its major price drop).
1988: received a Sega Master System w/3d goggles for Christmas
April 1990: Using paper route money, purchased a Sega Genesis w/Altered Beast.
Sept 1990: Using the last of my paper route money (having quit before high school) purchased a NES
Christmas 1991: received a SNES as a gift
Christmas 1992: received a Sega CD as a gift
Nov 1994: having graduated earlier in the year and working, purchased a 32X for myself
Nov 1995: purchased Sega Saturn
March 1996: purchased Sony Playstation (w/Philosoma)
Christmas 1996: received Nintendo 64 as gift.
Christmas 1998: received Pokemon Game Boy Color as gift (gave it a fair try...still don't like Pokemon, but I did like other gameboy games).
9/9/1999: purchased a Sega Dreamcast (w/Soul Calibur)
Sept 2000: purchased (and received) a launch Playstation 2
Feb 2001: actually purchased my first PC, an HP Pavillion with an AMD K6 at 500Mhz (after that I learned to build my own PCs)
Sept 2001: purchased a Game Boy Advance
late summer/early Fall 2002: After graduating college, i was unemployed for several months. got work in May of 2002, and sometime between starting, but before my birthday, I purchased a Gamecube for myself.
Oct 31st 2002: received an XBox for my birthday (was kind of a bad day, as my mom had fallen an broke her arm, so we spent some time at the hospital. She felt bad for ruining my b-day...I wasn't worried about that, and was more upset that my mom had a broken arm and was in pain :( ).
Early 2003: Used money from tax returns to purchase a Game Boy Advance SP.
Summer 2005: Purchased a DS Lite
Amusingly, I have less recollection of when I purchased my PSP, Wii, 360, and PS3 (though they were in that order)
I purchsed the PSP-1000 in early 2007, and then traded up to the 2000 shortly after it was released.
Around the same time towards the end of 2007, I picked up a Wii.
i think I bought my 360 summer of 2008
If memory serves a year later, summer of 2009, I got my PS3.
2012: as a b-day present for myself, picked up a N3DS
2013 tax returns: bought myself a Nexus 7 to have a decent avenue to play Android games.
