That guys voice is annoying.
But dunno.. looks like they might be trying to make it too "real" like an updated cloverfield or something.
Still will have to see, but nothing about that makes me all that optimistic for anything but cool effects.

I can't wait. I like that twist, where the monster wasn't a mutated creature; more like a slumbering ancient beast they awoke and tried to destroy in the 50s through atomic bombs. Which makes me wonder, if nuclear weapons (multiple ones at that) didn't kill it; then how will they stop it now? (Maybe it'll go back to sleep ;)).
My sons and I are really looking forward to this!
Maybe they won't. How about a Godzilla vs. humanity movie where Godzilla wins? We're all gonna root for him anyway, so what the hell. It's never been done before and we all clearly deserve to get stomped into oblivion.
I'm not too sure how I feel about the origin, though. It's consistent with the original movie to an extent, but if nuclear weapons don't really have a role in his creation, I feel like that kind of defeats the point of Godzilla. I was hoping they'd be purposely vague so we never figure out exactly where he comes from (and let's face it, the more you try to explain how this impossibly giant monster exists in a "realistic" movie, the more you amplify how silly the concept is to begin with).
Still, I'm so fucking excited for this. Worst case scenario, we still get to see the best-looking Godzilla ever lay waste to a ton of shit.
All of you do yourselves a favor and watch this IGN Godzilla trailer analysis. This is a good example of a trailer analysis done right. This movie is going to be EPIC!!

Empire magazine cover. This IS GODZILLA RE-IMAGINED DONE RIGHT!!!!

I'm taking a step back. I'm getting a feeling of "generic disaster porn" from the trailer. I'll still be seeing it but I hope there's a little levity in the smashing and everything's not all serious and 9/11.
That is a great magazine cover though.
Did you see the IGN trailer analysis yet? http://www.ign.com/videos/2014/02/26...ailer-analysis
This and Spider-Man 2 are THE movies I'm waiting for this year. I've been watching Godzilla since I was old enough to sit up.
Snickers.......

Even though it says Tokyo(and has bits of spoken Japanese), this better make the soundtrack:

Japanese TOHO version of the trailer. The classic Godzilla theme at the end if the trailer actually made me misty eyed. I'm a hopeless Godzilla geek.

I think 3 official trailers were released in just 1 day recently. Nothing beats this though.
Here are the real ones, I think there are over 7 to 10 official and international trailers from 30 seconds to 2 minutes now. At 1:44 and 2:15 you will see maybe 3 Mutos total, look at monitors at 1:44 you see the squid one and flying one and 2:15 the spider one.
1:22 flying one.
Is that the original Godzilla skeleton they are walking on at 1:44 ?
And here the Muto is flaming Godzillas face at 0:24 to 0:26 ! Or are those plane missiles ?

IGN review 9.0 -----> http://www.ign.com/videos/2014/05/11/godzilla-review
I watched it earlier this afternoon. It was great. But I'd have to say, too much throwback is just too much. I understand the hate the 1998 design and storyline got; but this one could use a workout. It doesn't have to look like a fat lizard anymore. People will understand. What? Was it eating while it slept through the past 50 years? On the other hand, it did make this one more adorable.
I just saw it and it blows the Mathew Broderick movie out of the water! Definitely a movie for the fans. Just to be forewarned the MUTOs get a bit more screen time than Godzilla. I enjoyed the film for what it is; a well made monster movie. This one is a winner in my book without a doubt. If you are looking for Oscar worthy acting look elsewhere.
You'd think Godzilla would be a hard thing to fuck up, but they did it. Every time he went to fight the Muto, it cuts away. And the "big fight" at the end was all of, what, 2 minutes? You pretty much just see his tail in every shot, or he's enveloped in dust. I don't care about the guy from Kickass and his family, I wanted Brian Cranston. All I could think of was Transformers when I walked out. It wasn't about what it advertised. At the end, I was honestly expecting Godzilla to smile and give a thumbs up. It wasn't at all what I wanted or what I expect from a Godzilla movie. Terribly disappointing.
Since you saw this movie, I need to know one thing: Did they maintain at least some level of cheesiness of some of the older movies? If so, I will be one happy camper!
So how do you compare it to the Broderick version? You have to admit it was better than Final Wars. Yeah, Cranston not being the main human character did suck. And Transformers was a Shia Lebeouf screaming fest. Its was definitely better than Transformers (a three) but hey, I respect your opinion.
The movie was great. But call me crazy, I prefer the 1998 version.
You're crazy ;)
Wasn't going for a Godzilla fan card. But I'll take a Science Fiction enthusiast card.
Then again, I've thoroughly enjoyed all the Transformer movies as well.
I agree with QSS; I liked the 1998 film. Personally, don't get all the hate it gets. Is it because it's not faithful to the source material?
^Thanks for the rep. :)
It was okay. But the fact that you get like a total of 5 or 6 minutes of actual footage of godzilla is kinda' a disappointment.
I'll have to say that the MUTO designs were pretty damn bland.
The fact that they make the "giant robot"esque "BROOOOOOOWWWWRRRRRM" sounds was just... eugh.
Spoiler:
I was honestly about to boycot the movie for not having his signature atomic fire breath. But at the very end they finally revealed it.
And I've got to say I found the finishing move all too amusing (puking fire into the mouth of the MUTO)
