Wow, another Lan Di. For a second there I thought I was hacked until I saw the hyphen. I guess that makes you the OG with a 2006 join date.
Yes sir! Glad to meet you Lan Di.
Im probably getting an Ouya in the not to far future, to mess with it of course.
I bought sonic ep. 1 today. It's really neat. Also just got finished playing the Jackie Chan fighter on MAME!
Do you know if Ouya Mame performs better than Original Xbox Mame?
Yes it performs 10 times better and there's more games available.. But there is no dynrec for 3d games, so just use the awesome psx emulator for that..
Is there a way to connect it to SDTV?
Not directly. You could use a HDMI to composite/svideo converter, but I'd imagine text is going to be really difficult to read.
Has anyone tried the USB Saturn pads on this yet? I read that Neo Geo X sticks work, if the Saturn USB pad works as well then this will be one bad ass emu machine.
I remember back then In the Q/A of the kickstarter they said it would be SDTV compatible...
I lost interest when they said, "you need to enter your credit card information before entering the Ouya". Meh, I'll wait for project Mojo or the Google console.
Just get one of those prepaid visa/MasterCard cards and load a few bucks on it, they do have OUYA cards to buy as well (I dunno if you can use those to get past account creation or not). But really its a non issue.
But anyway, I've been enjoying my OUYA (but been mostly enjoying sideloaded apps and games more so then most on the ouya store, like open arena, xbmc Gotham alpha 1, and a few others).
Being that you can sideload the Amazon app store and get games and apps using that (works quite well).
Going to be trying out my gamemon FT8D91 USB hub and see if any of the controller ports work on it (it has PS1/PS2, gamecube, original Xbox controller ports).
I just hope they get external storage fully working cause I only have around 1GB of storage left.
So far the only use I've been able to possibly think for it, is a cheap testing device for Android Apps. So I might eventually buy one in the future to test stability and what not for any applications that pop out of my messing with the Android SDK.
How is Sega Saturn emulation?
You can try the Yabause Android fork. But the CPU is simply lacking, even if they offload to the Tegra it's still too slow to handle Saturn the way SSF does. I'm not fond of Ouya, maybe an Asian manufacturer will be making a better console with a superior Qualcomm chipset. It's also silly that you can't easily CFW their piece of shit..
Of course if you have an HTPC or a laptop to spare they run rings around the Ouya, especially in emulation.
