Thoughts? The mega everdrive is still more powerful. I'm personally glad Krikzz updates his hardware. This new version the software won't be compatible with the older versions.
This has more than most people would ever need and is almost half the price of the Mega Everdrive.
Nice update, including return to menu after reset.

The main reason why i'd consider another Everdrive model is ease of going back to the menu without having to turn the damn system off each time. Not only is it bothersome but i kinda worried excesive on/off might put wear & tear on my Model 1 power switch. I just ended up leaving it in the "on" position, and connecting it to its own surge protector. So i just flip the switch to turn the system on. Still annoying to do!
How stable is it in the new one? You just press the reset button to go back to the menu?

Looks like the major benefit to this is the 7Mbyte limit, so one could load UMKT3 onto a standard ED now. Defintely interested in this.

Again, not sure why this 3rd version was released unless the older carts are being reported as burned out hence moving o/s to sd instead of flash chip on cart.

That's pretty cool that he keeps updating the hardware. I am pretty happy with my Everdrive 1 though. It loads slow, but it's not THAT slow. It's definitely bearable.

Not that i'm one of those foolish types that worries about the flash chip somehow running out of rewrites(150 yrs from now), but the substantially faster loading would be much welcome upgrade. As it stands, the ease of menu reset is the only reason i'd want one. It better be good!

Because it's the CHEAPEST way to make a flash cart. Changing it to ram would make it more expensive, and the EDMD is meant to be the cheap card. If you want an expensive one, you get the MED.Quote:

The SaveState is very hard to pull off on real hardware given it's a cart, but it does a decent job, working on many games. Everything else is fine... never had a problem with mine. Returning to the Main Menu from a game is a part of SaveState - if a game doesn't work with SaveState, it also probably won't return to the menu via the SaveState manager either. It's not a bug, it's a realization that no Genesis game was ever made to work with a SaveState device, and that you can get one to work at all is just short of a miracle.Quote:

For what it's worth, the in-game menu has seemed a lot more reliable as of the last couple OS updates. The problem with the X, Y and Z buttons being unusable with the menu enabled is gone too. I just leave the option on all the time now; no reason to turn it off.
Does anybody know if it's possible to play this hack on a Mega Everdrive? I downloaded the bin.file but it didn't work for me, any help would be appreciated.Quote:

I just have my v2 Everdrive MD.
Works fine for me.
I gave my ed to a friend, didn't like waiting minutes for vf 32 x to load.

you mean everdrive MD.. mega ED loads rather instantly.
And even then, my everdrive flashes under a minute..
Yes my fault, typo E Dragon. Gave my friend my old ed. I then bought the mega ed and liked the short 32 x load times. Seems like it took over a minute to load vf on ed.
Significant update for SMS game mappers in the MED versus the original ED. It worked out a lot better for me to invest a little bit extra for the MED instead of buying a SMS ED just for a few games.Quote:
