ok for starters please for give any bad typing i had some drinks tonight.
So i picked up a Sega CD model 2 but no matter what i do or try the damn thing will NOT turn on! I made sure to clean slot well i opened the system up and used some caned air and got all the dust out of it. After 1-2 maybe 3 hours of playing with the power cord and slotting and unslotting i gave up and now i'm hoping someone here can help me out!

I've been reading here for a while and finally decided to make an account... Hi to all.
I had a question about my non-TMSS High Definiton Graphics Genesis Model 1. Just recently (last 4 days) I've noticed a change in the audio quality. Most of the audio is fine but there are certain sounds that sound "grainy" or "distorted". It sounded normal a few days ago so this is a recent change. It appears to be focused on higher pitch sounds - like the sound when you get a ring in sonic 1-3. Other games (other than sonic) seem to have the same problems. The system is all original. I tried replacing the composite av cord with a generic replacement but that did not fix the problem. Also the transformer (original) is providing 12.68VDC. Things like the sonic 3 intro sound weird, etc... Every once in a while I'll get one ring and it sounds "normal" - but only here and there - and then it sounds weird again.
I was thinking this might be caused by the electrolytic capacitors drying up. What do you guys think? Otherwise this system runs fine (other than the rainbowing which I think is normal for this type of system).
I'm up for any advise to try before replacing all of the capacitors. Also any recommendations for best quality caps? I don't like to buy junk. Thanks for any and all advice.
Screw rf, get a composite video cable and see if that fixes it.
Cross: Check the fuse. I've been told most non powering up sega cds are because of a blown fuse. I revived a dead pc engine by replacing the blown fuse. There should be a thread or two here that point to where the fuse is (I'm too lazy to dig it up).Quote:

Caps can certainly cause "off" sounds and buzzing. The av famicom upgrade kits I use there's one 10 uf cap that will make certain instruments in some games have buzzing audio when the cap goes. If you can capture the audio directly from your system and post it here from youtube or something that would really help give us an idea of what you're faced with. Uhm my security bit set I got (I assume that's what you want) was just something advertised as being able to open nes, snes and genesis stuff (2 bits in total). And that it does. Also having some sort of sticker remover is useful.

Edit: Fixed the system with no power. Just had to solder the connection for the power input plug.

Hi i have a question about the AC adaptor for Genesis 32x
it came with U.S(110v) AC adaptor (for Genesis 2 & 3) output is DC 10v 850mA
I want to use a replacement Pal/NZ AC adaptor , just wondering if DC 9v 850mA would be ok with Gen 32x? as i cant even find a 10v
Ive read elsewhere it should be fine, but ive also read the 32x is very fussy with voltage and 9v may blow the fuse
help would be much appreciated thanks
My 32x is running from a genesis 2 brick which is rated 10v 850 ma. The fuse won't blow if there's less amps.

Yes, because you're replicating (by using the EPROM) the original game data, and original Genesis carts had all the pins, meaning full compatability with all ROMs. The only downside is that you must have a programmer (which is expensive) and erase your EPROM each time you want to flash a new game onto it.
