Hello, I have two problems with two different Model 1 Genesis.
One one Genesis, the audio doesn't work, I hear a quiet buzzing the whole time the game is one, but, I CAN hear a few sounds, like sound effects, punching, tires screeching, or whatever. I have tried both the headphone out and AV out. I do not have an RF connector, but I know it's not the av cable, because I bought it brand new, and it works perfectly on my other model one. I have no idea what the problem is, and I'm prepared to replace any parts needed, I'm not afraid to use a soldering iron.
On the other Genesis, everything runs perfectly, until I get so far in a game, and then the video just messes up. Sprites turn to static at random, I get random colored lines, and sprites, and you can still play, but after about a minute of those nasty sprites, the whole screen goes to static-y color-y mess and renders the game unplayable, because you can't see anything.
I got both of these at Deseret Industries (it's like Good Will's) for 5 bucks and I just want to fix them up.
I also have a Model 2 that I'm awaiting the arrival of a power supply and av cable to test it's functionality.
Edit: I should also add, I have cleaned both games I have tried, and the Genesis with the video/sprite problem's cartridge slot.
