@BiggestCowardAlive Cool, wasn't thinking of a signal amplifier or maybe just a filler could do the same? But best of all you can sit and enjoy some retro gaming unimpeded of such much less visual nonsense.

"I wouldn't say RGB quality or S video quality but still a far less blurry composite" I'm a OEM stock appreciator myself. I have been known to undo modifications.

Edit: I'm thinking it could be the TV in that it probably doesn't have the best components inside and not doing a good enough job to separate noise from signal and dosen't help the console AV cables are picking up this noise like an antenna.

Edit2: It's got to be a cable TV node or distribution block outside leaking RF of which could be cleaned up.

it could be the TV I don't have proof that's the source of the interference.

I haven't modified my consoles, but I've seen video's on youtube comparing video quality on RF, composite, RGB and Svideo, so I was speaking from what I learned on that..

But I've never heard of anyone talk about using Composite amplifiers (before my father gave me this, I didn't even know they existed). I feel it's a good way to clean up quality without modifications (OEM) at least with my experience.

EDIT: I just tried the composite amplifier with my NES on a game I'm very familiar with since it's my favorite game of all time ( Dragon Warrior III) and it looked better than I ever knew it could I could clearly see the sprites in ways I didn't even know they could look. now, I've never used console mods so the best I had up till now was composite for the NES, but wow. composite amplifiers, these things are like magic.

I finally got around to open up my Mega Drive II to have a look inside. On first inspection it looks fine.

I closed it again before I took it to the living room to connect it to the tv using the rf thing.
Connecting it and powering on at first didn't seem to do anything except turn the screen black.
After cleaning the 64 pin connector (and the S&K game) I tried again. This time it starts the game ,
but the screen looks all wavy and the color is messed up and goes to black white randomly.

I think I could still clean it up more ,but I'm also interested in alternatives to the rf thing and if
some other things could help me improve the display output on the tv. (Its a panasonic plasma tv)

Like what kind of cords would be compatible to use instead ,it would be good to have some links.
I've done some diy stuff so if there's a good link for making a better cable for display that would be great.

Everything but RF will be better. RF is a cancer.

This will help. Get two RCA cables, cut them and just insert wire for video in 4. and for audio in 6. and don't forget about ground for both wires. Even in a rough way like this, quality of video will be at least 2x better .

Hik There are two AV cables one for the model 1 and one for the model 2 that you have in your photo. Retro-bit is the most common but there are others such as Tomee and one can also find this cable new in a clear unmarked bag off of eBay on the cheap but they are all of same quality.

Does anyone know if the PAL Mega CD contains any PAL specific timing (e.g. clock crystal), or is it identical hardware to the NTSC units, barring the BIOS?

I have a 60hz only NTSC-J MD2, and given the absurd prices for JP MCD2s, I'm thinking of just getting a PAL unit, which aren't too hard to come by here in the U.K. I know a Universal Bios will let me boot it, but I'm not sure whether there are any potential compatibility issues due to differences in clocking.

I have serious question for you, folks.

How you categorize your Genesis games (those who do)?
I have Everdrive MD and I have made folders like Sega, Electronic Arts, Sonic Team, BlueSky Software etc.
But my system starts to make no sense, when games like Mortal Kombat and NBA Jam/Hangtime comes in, as first 2 MK's are from Probe and last from Sculptured Software, in cases like this I should separate same franchise in different folders. Vectorman is Sega's franchise ( I think), but it's developed by BlueSky software. First three sonic games are from Sonic Team, but Sonic 3d blast is from travellers tales. And those are not the only examples.
I just don't know what to do.
Categorizing in folders like A-F, G-L, M-Z is a no go for me.

I would like to categorize by companies, who had IP's for corresponding franchises, but not sure, if that's even possible.
I have just ~50 games I like in EDMD SD card.
Any suggestions?

Why not just categorize by genre? That's what I do. Fighting, platforming, shmups, run 'n guns, etc.

Is there a program, which categorizes Gen games by genre? I think some years ago I heard about it.

If not, what's the most convenient way to do it manually?

You can try the batch file here if your ROMs are from GoodGen.

Otherwise, you're probably just going to have to sort them yourself like I did. It's tedious, but probably no more so than trying to sort by publisher/developer.

Got a bit of a problem.
I've tried two megadrives (Megadrive 2's), both with S-Video out cables (The white and red and yellow phono outputs) and three different cables.
I've also tried an old 800x600 projector, a 32Inch LCD tv and a 42Inch HD LCD TV.
Finally I've tried S-Video - HDMI, S-Video - Scart and S-Video directly in.

The picture has static on.

Any assistance would be more than welcome, i've pretty much given up at this point. I dont want to buy yet another megadrive because i'm likely to have the same problem again. Two megadrives with the same static problem sounds like its either faulty megadrives for sale on Ebay or me doing something wrong.

Also the person on ebay took an actual photo of it working on his TV because i had expressed concerns and it was fine with zero issues.

I have a problem with my multi-mega.
The motor that moves the laser up and down when reading and seeking the disc is stiff.
Can this be taken apart and cleaned or is it possible to source another?

So the 8-pin din on the back of my Japanese Mega Drive (VA6 I believe? Has the VA5/VA6 stamp on the board and TMSS) seems to be done for. If the board or cable moves even slightly the signal goes haywire. Sound goes out completely on my composite cables before sometimes losing signal, and the image turns blue and loses signal on HD Retrovision cables. I have no idea what I need to buy to fix it and I just lost $3 by buying the wrong replacement parts. Does anyone have a link to exactly what part I need on eBay or something? I've looked for a while now but can't find anything, and I really don't want to toss this system in the trash.

Edit: After closer scrutiny looks lie the two grounding pins of the front were to far apart but this looks better
