These seem to be some "HK originals"... kind of like my "Russian originals" but with much better box art.

The 16in1 cart is full of Master System games which is pretty cool, including a few Japanese MARKIII games that didn't get released as SMS titles anywhere else like Satellite 7 and Machine Gun Joe - a great little game. I'd expect it to be the most valuable of the lot too, as it will appeal to both Megadrive and Master System fans.
I've got a little Game Genie question for you guys. On my Genesis, with the Game Genie attached to a game I find I can input codes and all that jazz, but when I'm done inputting codes and press start it goes back to the Game Genie intro screen and goes back to an empty input screen. I've tried pretty much all the possible button combinations to get to the actual game after the codes, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?
Sounds like maybe a bad Game Genie. That's very odd.
I have scratchy audio, so I took the mixing cable out of the loop and come straight from Genesis 1 headphone out to my stereo. It sounds scratchy...and just not good. However, when I play a regular CD in the Sega CD 1, it sounds just fine. The cable is new and the contacts are clean. The stereo plays everything else just fine, and it's very obvious it's the Genesis. What can I do?
Also, I'm having trouble playing burned ISO/mp3's with cue files. I have managed to get only a few games working succesfully, being Sonic CD, Robo Aleste, and Ecco CD.
Sonic and Robo work perfectly, Ecco has some issues with the soundtrack and this weird occilation. I've tried mp3 and wav, nothing fixes it. It plays just fine in a regular stereo. Again I suspect the Genesis audio is to blame.
I've tried burning Terminator, Jeopardy, Flashback and Silpheed all with limited success. Terminator freezes at the beginning video, or I press start on the splash and it hangs, Jeopardy plays fine, but the video skips and just chugs along at about 1/2 a frame per second. Flashback just freezes on the opening sequence. I can press start to "advance it" but it still freezes even if the next screen loads. Silpheed actually was working, but it kept getting read errors and giving me continues. Now it just doesn't boot.
All of my "real" games work fine. They load and play with no issues.
I use dBPoweramp to convert to wave, though it's not neccesary. Then I use Nero Burning ROM 6.6.012 to select the cue and burn the image at 4x, 8x, even 12x, nothing. I tried DAO96, and plain DAO. No improvement. I use an LG external DVD burner.
The only thing I can try next is to burn using a different burner. I'll try to grab the very same ISO's and burn on an internal burner. Maybe this is my issue.
It's really frustrating because some of these games are working fine! I've wasted about 25 discs so far.
My Sega CD has an intermittant grinding/whinning sound when it's loading CD's. The try ejects and retracts just fine, but when it spools up it sounds...bad. To be honest I think it loads games better whenever it makes the noise. I've stuck the canned air tube inside and given it a few blasts, but that doesn't do jack...The genesis 1 plays carts just fine, with the few jiggle problem carts once in a while.
Maybe the only thing left for me here at home is to try different burning software. Every time I try to use Alcohol 120% it refuses to burn the cue saying there is an error at line 4. I wonder what this means?
Look at the top of your Genesis. Are the words "High Definition Graphics" present anywhere around the cartridge slot? If not, then that is just the sound quality of that particular run of the Genesis. It's very noisy.
I hope it's not a problem that I already replied to another thread (I'd found it on Google and replied before looking around the forums) regarding this matter. I have a model 1 Sega CD with a spindle motor issue. The problem sounds just like the one someone who made a thread about a year ago had in a model 2 and was able to fix by reconnecting a crooked cable. I took it apart, but didn't really see anything obviously wrong in there (wasn't entirely sure which wires went to the motor though). It is also very clean, looks barely used, didn't smell like anything was burnt or anything.
Basically: Sometimes it doesn't spin at all, sometimes it spins very slowly...the one time I got it to boot a game, it was extremely laggy - like trying to watch streaming video on dialup without pausing and loading it first.
Any ideas as to what could be wrong with it/possible fixes? Thanks.
Clean laser. Model 1's use the Sony KSS 240 laser assembly.. Laser is dirty.
I've cleaned the laser thoroughly, so I feel confident it's not that...the problem lies with the spindle not spinning, and when it does it's extremely slow. Thanks, though...
When you spin it manually when powered off, does it spin freely, or stiff?
Feels free and normal.
Ok. Then I still think there's a laser issue. The underside of the lens can get dirty too on the 240 laser. You sure you checked that?
I'll have to check it out. What's the best way to clean the underside of it?
I did it by carefully taking the shield piece off, and cotton swabbing the bottom side..
VERRRRY carefully not to break the lens off..
Hmm..I could've sworn that all model 1 Genesis had that stamped on it...I'll have to double check. I'm at work..maybe I can check the ebay auction...Quote:

I'll double check when I get home but it just looks like I have a crappy model. So if it says HiDef Graphics it'll have good sound?
