As for my SegaCD, aside from trying a different burner, is there a guide on what screws to take out to take the cover off and give the lens a cleaning? I can't find anything!Quote:

And cleaning lens won't help with this issue if the games boot up (when audio is messed up, so must be game data, and a single bit change can be enough for non playable game).
So I burned about 12 games today at work, and only about 3 of them work. This is extremely frustrating, as I'm following directions exactly. Would anyone want to test out my CD's on their system to see if they will play? Samurai Shodown looked promising, but it just hung when I actually chose a difficulty level and it began to load the level. Grr...
If I used an emulator to test, would the results be reliable?
At least Monkey Island worked flawlessly....

OK. I burned AGAIN at work, this time on a laptop. I redownloaded the iso's, reconverted mp3, the lowest speed it let me burn was...12x I think, maybe 10x. I only did Samurai Shodown and Silpheed this time, I can't use up ALL my work CD's...hehe.
SS worked much better this time, but it still hung occasionally. Really cool game.
I THOUGHT silpheed was working flawlessly. I got to level 2, and it just froze. Now both CD's work partially like the first time or not at all.
So, the stupid thing about this is that just tonight, I burned Final Fight at 16x, and that disc works perfectly. Absolutely no problems.
What am I supposed to do here? I've probably created about 30 coasters so far. I seriously doubt it's the ISO's. Maybe I should try bin/cue files? Does anyone want to try my problem discs on there SegaCD1, Genesis1 setup to verify that it's really my discs?
Everyone says, "use nero" "burn slower"....I did all that and this crap isn't working for me. HELP!
The speed you use to burn the disc shouldn't mean anything if you have a modern drive... but then again, while the discs work in modern drives, they might not in ancient ones... I'll be soon finding it out when I get a MCD.
It very well does matter for old 1x drives that have to read it.
Do you have to find it necessary to counter everything I say? I'm beginning to get pissed off...

Yeah I dunno I've got a list of about 24 games or so. Basically all the SegaCD "good ones", and all the ones I always saw in the video store, but never got a chance to rent.
There's some classics i owned, like Silpheed, but others I always wanted to play, like Samurai shodown, fatal fury...etc.
Let me know, I'd pay for shipping and your time and all that stuff. It'd be really awesome to at least get verification that yes, these discs play on a model 1 sega cd, and in the worse case, they won't play on mine. I'd then know my sega cd is to blame, and I can move on!

AZUL CD-R's never gave me a problem, but they are picky on what burner is used. NEC burners, forget about it. Matsushita burners though, work great.
I wouldn't worry about shipping CDs. They won't melt this time of year. It's winter, so Florida is down to a chilly 90 degrees or so.

No, the fast burn smears because of the time it takes the diode to go from high intensity to not. Just like how a light bulb can "fade" off.. It's not fast enough..
EDIT: My bad, that's for a burner side.
It won't work even on the SCD side. The light reflects differently, and not so much on a CD-R to begin with, because it's not like a real CD. And the diode on the SCD expects clear on or off bits, not in-between...
