I meant on MCD side, you adjust the intensity of the laser, and I think there is a point when the smeared area is read more or less same as when reading a non smeared part... testing needs to be done...

Read edited part. I edited when you posted...
You'll never know unless you try... while it is probably unlikely it might work...
Hi! I've got a question. Cam I play whitout theese metal prongs when I'm playing 32X?
some say you can, some say you can't
I've never used the metal things when I used to have a 32X, it's not really needed, because ground goes through the cartridge connector anyway.
Hi Guys, what happened to me yesterday could be a big pile of s**t.
I just bought a MEGA-CD (ver 1) JAP very good conditions, from what the seller said.
Truth is: http://www.mediafire.com/?2eym4teb3jm
1)When th mega-CD is booting up, a strange trembling sound keeps on all the time, the CD unit ejects everything, is not even spinning.
2)When in megadrive mode with a MD CART running and the MEGA-CD unit attached, the trembling audio remains and the CD tray keeps ejecting
3)If the megadrive is disconnected from Mega-CD everything is alright.
The seller told me that when He tried it everything was working perfectly.
What I know, is that I just paid 180€ for this garbage.
Any kind soul can help me fixing it?
Holy crap, 180 euros? Isn't that like over $250?
*snaps fingers*
I summon the ancient might of EVILDRAGON to help this man!
(Welcome to the forums, by the way. Hope you stick around. And get an avatar! You look naked! :p )
This happens during shipping usually because postmen like to play soccer with the packages. ;)
Anyway, it sounds like the tray is either lose, a gear has a broken tooth, or the "close" switch internally isn't working.
Hard to say, I haven't seen this problem myself..
Everything was super-perfectly packed, I don't think it's a mechanical problem.
The intermitting sound comes out from TV, not from CD itself...
Also, trying with some hearphones I do not hear the bios music it is supposed to sound, but the same loud intermitting sound. -BANG BANG BANG.. You know what I'm talking about. :daze:
It seems like a "bad comunication" problem.. Still, I have no clue.
Having one other Mega-CD unit, I tried to exchange the power part, but still the problems persists (however I heard a little less intermitting sound, and a vague normal bios tune)
Please.. HELP!!
Oh, the sound is electrical? Check the piano contacts on the Sega Genesis.
If you have a different Genesis/MegaDrive you can try, do so. If this sound is from the TV, then a capacitor or ground is faulty.
Audio is passed into the Sega Genesis analog, not digitally. Though if you can't get a game to spin up and play and it's automatically ejected, then it might be the Sega CD is faulty. Hope you can return it..
So I bought one of those radioshack lens cleaner discs, the kind with the mini brushes on the disc. Eternal Champions CD-R seemed to play the video...but still not perfectly. The game wouldn't load.
It's an improvement from before, but it might not have anything to do with the brushes. Haven't had the chance to try out any other burned games yet.
My new Genesis with HD graphics emblem is sitting in my garage. I will hold all of you personally responsible if it doesn't have better sound than the unit I have now! :D
I'll give the Sega CD another lens cleaning and fresh 4x burn tonight. I finally got my HTPC up and running, so I'll try burning with that. I got Samurai Shodown 2 to work fairly ok on sega cd, but I'm far more impressed with the neogeo version....Been neglecting my sega cd ever since I got MAME up on my main TV set in the HTPC I built.
I'll let the board know how it goes...my CD-R read problems are ongoing at this point....
Don't blame me, I'm not convinced that it does sound better :p It's got more punch to the bass though.Quote:
