if your TV is good, you will get some borders even in 60Hz, but in most cases you don't.

Hi everyone, I just bought a Sega CDX, but it did not have the correct AC cord. They gave ne the one for the Genesis 2. I know it does not have the correct AC?DC input output. I am afraid if I continue to use the cord I have it will fry the system. I have noticed it gets hot. I do not know if that is normal for this sytem.
Does anyone have a replacement one they are willing to sell, or does anyone know where I can get one? The only ones on EBay are the third party universal ones, which are not the right ones to begin with. I habe posted on several other sites with no resulls. I know these things are hard to find, so I doubt if I will be able to. Any other info would be appreciated. Thank you.
Voltage is fine with the Genesis 2 adapter, but what's the CURRENT "amperage" rating of your adapter? I've seen some with different numbers. About 1.5a is what you should use.
Either way, anything about 9-11v will be fine, as long as it's 1.5a or higher...
Oh, and positive tip polarity - --C-- +
sorry, cant see where else to ask.
conv scd as previously reccomended to someone - isnt working at all for me.is there any easy way to regionalise the hardware (i.e md cart plug in) to recognise other regions as i really want to play my jap ninja warriors on my pal mega cd.
only way is Megacart so far... its either that or the ConvSCD.
and how can i find this megacart?
sorry,ive never heard of it.
Why people don't use Google is beyond me.
It's literally the FIRST result. :p
Google works... always has unless you have search engine hijacker in your PC...
how you doing people,
i know this isnt a megadrive question but i cant post anywhere else at the minute.
could any one tell me if i can use a jpn or u.s. ram cart on a region free pal sega saturn,
thanks
I was actually about to post a question about the lines, but it looks like you have already answered it. I have a model 2 Genesis that's running through AV cables, and the colors never quite seem to be synced up quite right, which causes things to sometimes look distorted or blocky. Oh well, it is what it is I guess.
well I'm getting back into a new genesis kick because of pier solar, so I decided to pick up a whole new system and get started (all I have handy is a nomad, rest is in storage).
Anyhow I got a 'high definition graphics' first gen with the license screen on boot, and when I plugged her into my fancy hd projector, I noticed that brief flashes of black as the screen updates turn into 2-5 second gaps where my TV displays "no image" text. On phantasy star 4, I also noticed I couldn't view cutscenes or go to the basement or my video unit would display the same "no image" error--only it doesn't go away in this case. Granted it's as much a tv error as anything, but is this something anybody else has seen? is it something all genesis units do? Is there a fix? For the record I also had slightly different video trouble with the gn twin clone system on it (nes portion worked fine). outside them, nothing else has given me a problem.
Also in terms of modding, from what I've seen here it's a beast to do s-video on this unit. my projector takes scart rgb, but lacks the port--all things considered I just want some advice on where I should be going to keep this economical, and if I should even mod this system, as the above issue makes it nearly unplayable.
finally I've done something really stupid today...I purchased micro machines turbo tourney 96--which is PAL for sure, and looks unlicensed. How much have I increased my workload? and is there a site that shows me what I need for a 50/60hz switch (tv does both). I've also heard that I'm in trouble playing unlicensed games on my system, I'd just like a second opinion on that.
whew, and that should do it. In closing, hi.
Actually, I did that mod to one of my model 1's a few weeks ago. It's actually not very hard. But S-Video on this unit does have some drawbacks. Specifically some cross talk that causes lines to be displayed in solid color areas. Look back a few posts, I put a picture of it up. It still improves the picture quality overall.
If you are going to do the 50/60Hz switch and retain composite/s-video you need to disable the video encoder chip (pins 5,6 and 7) and add your own crystal to set the video frequency correctly, otherwise you will get a black and white picture. It is a simple circuit of a 15k resistor, 33pf cap, 50pf trimming cap and crystal (for me being in Australia it was a 4.43mHz crystal). You can see it on the CXA1145 data sheet.
With the S-video amplifier you only need the amp part on the "Y" Luminance side of it. You can get away with a 75ohm resistor and 220uF cap and the chroma side.
