I'm a big fan of Origins, so if Legends is anywhere near that quality, I will definitely pick it up at some point. Besides, I've always been a big fan of the little limbless guy:)
Rayman re-invented himself twice and both times were rather splendid indeed. I'm talking of course about Rayman 2 and Rayman Origins. I think this cements Rayman as the best contemporary platformer. Screw Mario.
Yeah, as far as post 16-bit platformers are concerned, the Rayman series has always been near the top. And with the lack of platformers on the PS360 consoles, Rayman Origins was not just a breath of fresh air, it was an amazing plat former that ranks up there with some of the all-time greats. If this next installment is anywhere near as good as Origins (and it looks like it is going to be), then I will be picking it up thusly.
My favorite Rayman game was always the first one (Though I've only ever played 1 and 2) so it's cool to see something go back to 2D roots and get good reviews.
Thinking about it, Rayman has really been around for a long time now.
Thankfully it's not a WiiU exclusive. Unfortunately Lost World won't be played by many thanks to its exclusivity.
I've been looking forward to this game ever since it was announced for the Wii U. I already found it unlikely back then for it to remain a Wii U exclusive and fortunately, my intuition turned out to be correct. I'm glad to see that Legends turned out excellent, but then again, how could it not after the already brilliant Origins? :)
It's already in stores today over here, but sadly the one store that was still open after I got back from work didn't have the Xbox 360 version in stock. So I'll have to wait impatiently for yet another day. :?
Who made Rayman Origins and Legends, what are their previous projects? I can look it up, but maybe someone could save me the trouble xB
It was made by Ubisoft Montpellier under the direction of Michel Ancel, the same people who made all the previous main entries in the Rayman series. They are also responsible for Beyond Good & Evil and Peter Jackson's King Kong. The same studio apparently also did From Dust and ZombiU, but I think those were made by different development teams.
I've never played a Rayman game because I thought he looked stupid. lol.
Well I got the game yesterday, played it for about an hour and what's to say? It's more Rayman and it's great.
I do wonder if Legends will in the end give me the same sense of elation that Origins did. Origins was such a surprise, a breath of fresh air that seemingly came out of nowhere, and executed to perfection. Legends plays much more to expectations, even if it does have a number of new tricks up its sleeve. I am having fun with it for sure, but I also realize that it is just more of the same.
Still a great game though. Highly recommended if you like fast action platformers with a whimsical sense of humor.
