Recca 3DS
For those who don't know, the 1992 Famicom classic Recca was just re-releasred on the 3DS. I bought a copy and it has sound issues. When level 2 begins, the orchestra hit sound effect keeps playing over and over and it gets really annoying (this does not happen in the sound test). Furthermore, when playing the boss music in the sound test, the orchestra hit triggers twice instead of once on certain notes, but this does not happen ingame. Neither bug occurs in the original game. Is my 3DS weird or has anyone else had these issues? None of the reviews seem to mention these bugs. Also, the boss damage flashing effect was toned down (probably for epilepsy concerns) and is far less cool looking.

Interesting, is there any other Famicom classics scheduled for release on the 3DS?
Crisis Force? Wanpakku Grafitti? Boku Dracula Kun? Cocoron? Wai Wai World 2? Choujin Sentai Jetman? Heisei Tansai Bakabon? Yume Penguin Monogatari?

Not that I can see. I'm still stunned that we never got the Space Harrier 3D re-release, so the fact that we got Recca completely baffles me.

Very odd (but cool) choice. Recca's an excellent shooter.

I have a repro cart of this for the NES, and it's great. If you don't have a turbo controller, however, you won't get past stage 1. The native turbo doesn't help this one. This game is damn hard.

I never tried the game with turbo, as I can't imagine the bullets going any faster. I've played it on my Powerpak, and the farthest I've been able to get is midway through stage 3, before getting killed by the stupidly high amount of enemies. Seriously, that game is crazy hard. Also, if Nintendo decides to start porting over more obscure Famicom games, hopefully Gimmick! will be one of them.
