I just found out about Pier Solar and I fell in love with the game!
Now, I've checked on the publisher's website to see if they were still selling the game, but all they sell right now are ports of the game on other consoles.
I've checked on eBay and everyone sells the game at an insanely high price (around $200).
Is there any place where I could buy the game at a reasonable price?

You can pre-order a copy from the next reprint run at WaterMelon's site. From what I understand, there's no guarantee when or if that reprint run will happen. It all depends on getting a sufficient volume of pre-orders to justify production.
If you are looking for an original first print version of the game, ebay sellers are selling it at a premium price and in my estimation it's not worth paying the extra money.Quote:

Well, if you are looking to simplu obtain the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive reprint version to add to your collection, the developers are still selling the SEGA GENESIS/MEGA DRIVE version of the game on their website. From the product description, you will get the reprint edition of the Mega Drive/Genesis 64MEG Pier Solar game cartridge, a plastic clamshell box to house the game, a full-colour instruction manual and various "goodies"!

Keep in mind, though, there hasn't been any kind of date set for that reprint.

Even more ironic since I prefer the look and feel of the plastic clamshel 2nd run with the ~1990 Genesis cart box art boarder style rather than the mid 90s red/blue stripe thing on the initial release. (no collector's CD-ROM though, for what that's worth . . . more for show than anything given how you usually have to burn a backup to actually use it on the Sega CD :p -granted the PC bonus content works . . . and you can rip it to burn the backup rather than downloading the image)
Though I do like the black text on gold cart label of the North American version of the first release. (more than the gold on black or white regional versions -I think White is EU and black is Japan, but I'm not positive)
Ah, OK, the white one is Japanese and the black one is Europe . . . the Europe one's MEGA DRIVE logo style/placement/color looks a lot better (as does the overall color scheme), better than the US Genesis stripe too, though I still like the gold emphasis on the US label. :p

It's also a little annoying there's no sound test . . . as far as I could find, but that's nothing to do with the release variants. :p
I got a stack of mint original editions (3x normal, 3x posterity or each region) on my shelf, not for sale... such a nice potential pile of money there :P
Topics such as these almost make me feel guilty for owning an original European Classic edition of the game that I've only played for about 2 hours. Almost. But I guess that's one of the perks of being a believer and early adopter.
That's ridiculous. I don't know what part of the website you've been looking at, but, both, the Re-Print USD and Re-Print-EP versions of the game on the Genesis are very much still available for pre-order; the same as the rest of all their Pier Solar merchandise. Just be patient like the rest of us were when we first got our copies and you'll get yours once the number of pre-orders reaches market feasibility.
Yeah, there was discussion about doing more Pier Solar reprints at the same time they produce Project Y. But who knows how that'll go.

There's a soon approaching Pier Solar reprint for Genesis, January apparently.
hopefully it's less than 100 USD and hopefully i have some money to pare at the time assuming the game is good?

That was a copy of the original run which ended that high. The price for reprints now is $50, and the last sold copy of the game I saw went for about $96, so a slight premium over the retail cost.Quote:

It's just an above average RPG, nothing amazing gameplay wise although the gather system is kinda neat. Really the strong point of the game is that it's a genesis rpg that looks and sounds beautiful while playing well too. right then, so i got a copy of the last run (that i know of?) sometime last year, finally got around to it on my model 1 (non-TMSS) with 32X hooked up, and...nothin'. any ideas?
if this is another after-market game that doesn't play well with non-TMSS units i'm gonna have to start looking for a way to play it on my mega everdrive, if possible.
32X games work fine with your setup, yes?

NM I just read the thread link above. It only affected the latest release of the game. So I should be good. But I did think the first release had a hardware issue with something? I know that I originally tested the cart on my x'eye (Now MIA from my last move...), but that is also worked on my CDX as I recall. Anyway, glad to know I shouldn't have any issues on my current daily genesis I use.
Yeah I guess his wording was a bit odd. To me, it almost sounded like he meant the very first production Pier Solar PCB was changed at the last minute to thwart piracy. "last cartridge" can mean the last development version before retail production. Perhaps he meant "last cartridge" as in the most recent retail revision.
I bought my Reprint Edition back in January 2011, this was the very first print run, it seems to work fine with my Model 1 VA2 + 32X. It works on all sorts of clone hardware too.
yeah, last I tried 32x games worked just fine - ironically, I had to switch 32xs with a buddy because his played nicer with my Mega Everdrive than mine did.
in lieu of finding a working ROM (I honestly.don't know if my ED supports that file size anyway) I'll PM this guy & hope for an easy fix, thanks Guntz!
