IMO the Nvidia cards don't have enough onboard memory to handle what's coming with 4k. The reference 290x is comparable, but these new waterblocked ones when overclocked should have the performance edge. It's not much of a choice though, if they're all out of stock and you need to pay more or wait anyway.

I'm an Nvidia fan, I just wish they gave performance for their own higher price. Right now I think the DCII 290x & the equivalent ones are going to step it up in AMD's favor. Look at the benchmarks on the new Asus one, they're cooling it properly now. It's time to get excited.

What the fuck are you even talking about Semmie? We're talking about $500-700 flagship cards that are already "Next gen" video cards compared to the PS4/Xbox One hardware, which is 2-3 generations ahead of the capabilities of the Wii U GPU.

If you want better than what the PS4/Xbox One give you, you get a machine with a Radeon 7970 or a GTX 760/770/780. They won't push 4k resolutions, but they will scale and perform better than consoles let you set up multiple displays if you bog it down to the framerates that consoles sell as acceptable. Buy the lower tiered cards than those and you'll still have a machine playing those "Next gen" games with reduced settings


I'm not arguing with you Semmie. You're an idiot, the Wii U is not doing well, and it's not struggling because it gets criticized by people like me. It's struggling because Nintendo is fucking terrible at marketing or releasing games people want, at prices they find reasonable.

Most PC gamers scoff at the idea of buying the PS4 and Xbox One. They have no problems buying Nintendo because Nintendo is the weird and different box that isn't trying at all to be a PC. Most PC gamers have no beef with Nintendo. My problems with Nintendo come from knowing the value and the cost of their product, and I'm not willing to pay an insane price for it despite being ready and willing to burn money on toys like this.


As I said a long time ago, I feel sorry for you if you are paying insane 3rd-world prices for your PC components.

I am aware that parts are more expensive in Europe, but you know what, I don't give a shit. Here in North America you can build PC's in that price/performance range. Sure, it sucks for you guys, but it doesn't make me a liar. Deal with it you fucking loser.

I don't think any of the cards have enough VRAM to handle 4K resolutions with all of the eye candy turned on. They certainly don't have the horse power to run 4K games @ 60fps without turning things down.

I know I'm not planning on using a 4K monitor anytime soon, but I do realize that my 670's VRAM comes up a little short even at 1080p. I was thinking about doing sli with another EVGA GTX 670 FTW!, but I'm already seeing games like Battlefield 4 pushing beyond 2GB with everything cranked up @ 1080p. I'd would be fine with a single card that has at least 3GB of VRAM.

I'm likely to go full on AMD with my next build. FX8120 and probably a 270x or 280x. I have a feeling that due to AMD's wins in the home console market, PC ports will be better on their solutions than NVidia's and Intel's, especially with Mantle.

Just waiting for prices to go down.

Also, just made a topic on another board about this, but has no one talked about the Mad Catz M.O.J.O Android microconsole? Doesn't seem like a good buy at $249, but if the price drops by ~$100 and they strike a deal for PC game streaming, I might get one. I look at it more like an Android mini-computer though. IMO, that's how Mad Catz should market it. Microconsoles have a "stink" about them, but Android mini-computers less so.

BTW, just saying this for the sake of saying it:

I miss the Amiga. I know there's a small contingent of diehard Amiga users apparently making "new" hardware, but that ain't Amiga, IMO. No games, no Amiga. Shame that. There were some goodies there. Some were ported to Genesis (Leander, etc.), but a lot weren't.

I used have an Amiga 600 when I was a kid; loved it. Then we got a Mega Drive II and the thing just collected dust. Shame. It would be great to get back into collecting for it.

Went to $149 first, about six months into the life cycle. The drop to $99 came two years into the life cycle.

Both drops came sooner in that console's life cycle than was the case for DC. There is a caveat, of course. Sega couldn't afford to drop price that quick, so didn't. amiga was sheer greatness, especially the hardware, sound and programs for it's time and incredible amount of games. long before pc users got windows 95 amiga already had workbench

nintendo has games that can never be defeated just like sega also has games that neverget defeated. the rarity and spirit can not be found in sony and xbox. cause they areboth basically a pc for lazy ass peeps who dont feel like installing a game. but hey guess what they got fucked regardless with the populair install data of nowadays.

The xbone is selling well, and has supply for the demand in all regions it is released in.
The ps4 is selling well, but doesn't have supply to meet the demand in the regions it is released in.

So it's pretty much a no brainier that ps4s are popping ip on auction sites and the like... When the supply is able to meet the demand then the auctions will be a reasonable gauge for actual users looking to unload the console, but as of now it is almost entirely people looking to make money off it.

Hacking these days is a pain. You can get banned. Or a brick. You can not play all games unless they hack the encryption of a specific game. Over at ps3iso you can see discussions.

Its a pain nowadays. It is not a softmod like the wii or the selfboot of dreamcast anymore.

They said they hacked 3ds and found themselve on checkmate. They could play the old 3ds games. Not the ones that were only compatible with the newer firmwares.

Psvita is only halfhacked to play psp games. Yet u can get banned and its only for old firmwares. And thise firmwares cant play the brand new games.

Jailbreaking an iphone is also a pain. Cause with the new itunes you have an obligation to sync apps. You cant uncheck anymore.

Wiiu is not hacked its arumor. But wii inside wiiu had been hacked so ucan play backups of wii in the wiiu app.

People were flipping PS2s on EBay when they were selling as fast as they hit retail. I had a guy pay me $20 to stand in line for him at Toys R' Us, because they were selling only 1 per customer.

If I knew I was sure to make $300 in profit from reselling a PS4 that I'd just bought, I'd do it too.
